The Giants would be real losers if they expected to lose the Super Bowl.

This "prediction" by Tisch is a display of hubris. It is best not to stir up the "Football Gods", who do not like hubris, and seek to cast down the mighty when they beat their chests. That is why BB instructs his team to remain humble and respect opponents in the media. If you are a football fan and read that column and are unable to recognize "football sacrilege", get ready to witness a pigskin "Soddom and Gommorrah" next Sunday. I expect "fire and brimstone" to fall down on the Giant secondary. Tisch will probably turn into a pillar of salt after 3 hours of cold sweats watching his team get humilated.

Hilarious hearing Mike Francesa gripping about this on WFAN this morning. Says Coughlin must be hitting his head against a wall at this point. The Giants have always been the Chargers of the NFC, big media mouths and bigger underachievers. They had been doing better of late but it's good to see their true selves are coming out. Keep talking Giants!! Keep talking...;)

What do you expect a Team owner to do when asked who will win the SB in which his team is appearing? Say, "The other guys?" or "I dunno?" While this wouldn't be cool for a coach or player, I think a different standard is applied to owners and family.

The Giants ownership is among the classiest and most well-respected in the NFL, helping found the league and seeing it through some tough times. Steve Tisch himself is a successful movie producer (Forrest Gump, e.g..)

The Maras are classy. Steve Tisch is a media whore. He wanted to get this message out there, because he wants to be a "star owner" like Jerry Jones. He wants to be the center of attention. Now you can see why Coughlin has had so much trouble instilling discipline in this team. from the Tisches, to Accorsi, to Shockey and Barber, they all wanted to be media darlings above everything else. It trickled down through the team and Tom has had to stamp out the brushfires over and over. Coughlin has done a great job keeping the team together under the circumstances, and it helps to have as studious and humble a pupil as Eli. But the majority of that organization from Tisch on down, is filled with loudmouthed braggarts who think they're better than they are because they play in the media capital of the world. They're in for a shock.

    #24 Jersey

I just saw Tom Coughlin on television.
He called the Patriots "a very good team."

    "Very good team?"
    "Very good team???"

    That's disrespect.

This is the greatest team of all time. Why didn't Coughlin proclaim that when referring to the Patriots. Calling them a 'very good' team implies they are not a great team. Not a perfect team. Not the greatest football team in history. Not the greatest sports team ever in history.

Man, I can't believe he disrespected the Patriots like that! This is surely going to fire up the team! I can't wait to see what happens to the line now!!

you make a good point in distinguishing Tisch from the Maras. I dont' object, tho, to his seizing his moment in the sun, which you and I know will not end the way he wants it to end. i don't think this creates the same kind of problem for coughlin as, say, Tiki Barber or Rembermber Me Shockey running their mouths. I don't think the players really care what the suits say as long as they sign the checks. :)

Stick to what you know. And this isn't it. As big as a Pats fan as I am, every organization should be run with as much class as the Giants. The attention whore here isn't Tisch, it's you.

My thoughts exactly. If I were the Giants, I'd feel pretty good about the game.

    What worries me is that
neither Robert, nor Jonathan, nor Myra
have expressed comparable confidence in their employees.

Put these two things together and
it must be time to shove our chips onto the Jints.

I just wrote that the Maras have class. What part of that were you unable to comprehend? As for Tisch, I guess you didn't watch the Giant postgame after the win over GB, where he kept hogging the microphone embarrassing himself with Bradshaw and Mara. Combine that with his walking the sidelines during games with movie stars and predicting Super Bowl victories, calling him a "media whore" is kind. As for me... I'm a forum whore, not an attention whore. Get your factoids straight.:)

Sorry, that was a little Easterbrookesque. I got carried away there.
