Re: Giants and Jets will flip coin to decide who opens new stadium

My bet is the Giants open week 1 on Sunday Night vs a division rival (my money is on the Eagles).

The Jets host SNF/MNF in week 2 vs NE.

Re: Giants and Jets will flip coin to decide who opens new stadium

The Giants should. Its Giants stadium, and the Jets just pay rent.

Re: Giants and Jets will [NOT] flip coin to decide who opens new stadium

Too bad the AFC East doesn't play the NFC East for interconference this year, then they could have both opened it by playing each other.

According to the Jets, the first "game" at the stadium will be the Giants @ Jets pre-season game.

No, it is not. Giants Stadium is a pile of rubble. The new stadium is Meadowlands Stadium and is a 50/50 split between the two teams. However, the Giants' offices are still in the new stadium, while the Jets have a new facility down the road in Florham Park, NJ.

It goes against scheduling......

but it would be nice to see them face each other to start off the yr.

Come to think of it though, if they did that there'd probably be a whole new fight over who would be the "home" team.

Best case scenario is where they open the season playing against each other filled to capacity with all of the most die-hard fans from both sides and on that day a giant hole opens up in the earth and swallows the whole stadium and it's occupants sending them all where they belong.:D

"50/50" only when we forget about the additional $300 million loan (in addition to the $1.3 billion financing arranged by the Jets and Giants) from the NFL, which the Jests and Giants will have to pay off over 15 years. This loan exhausted the NFL's Stadium Fund.

So, we finally know how Goodell makes his big decisions. He holds a "private coin flip."

Ah, let's look back at some other cases.........

"Heads: Hang Belichick and the Patriots out to dry and fine them $750,000 for Spygate. Tails: slap them on the wrist, acknowledge that many other teams do it and impose no fines.

"OK, here goes.

"And it's....'Tails.'

"Well, looks like it's gotta be 'two out of three.'

"OK, one more time.

"Darn, 'Tails' again,

"OK, 'three out of five.'

"Nuts, 'Tails' again.

"Oh, screw it, I meant to say 'Tails and **** them anyway.'"

The way I understand it is that the PSLS will pretty much cover the cost of paying back the NFL, so the NFL will probably be paid back within jast a few years.

whatever....but the $300 million stripped the fund.

I won't argue that, but then again I wonder besides LA who needs/wants a new stadium at this time.

Have they imploded the old stadium? If so they did it the past month because it was still standing in February when I drove by.

I don't think an implosion is planed, they are I believe using a wrecking ball, and selling off the pieces as they tear it down.
