AAA straightened out this candidate for POTUS? Who does he have advising him? Not voting for Obama, but this McCain clown looks like he has no clue about what's going on. Does he even put air in tires anymore? Not saying Obama does, but I bet he can remember the last day he did. And Obama's supposed to be the out-of-touch elitist?

I'm so sick of that crap. I want the next president to be smarter, more educated, more worldly than me. I don't care. Call that "elite", but I know I wouldn't be able to handle the job. Look what we got the last time we elected a "folksy" idiot.

McCain is in favor of "everything" - no reason that wouldn't include taking care of your car. Obama is in favor of taking care of your car and daydreams about windmills.

I know you don't believe that. But that's cool. I don't think either of these guys knows what to do. I still haven't seen a coherent plan from either one about a comprehensive energy plan. Of all the issues we are faced with, you would think one of them would take a week off and develop a detailed, publishable plan that we could all look at. I don't think either one of them have the political nuts to try that. That's become the most important issue to me because it is the framework within which all of the other issues are connected...the occupation, the economy, the environment....I realize I'm asking a lot of these clods, but I'm tired of soundbites and political jabs determining the future of our country and the world.

As a primary source of energy it is. Again, I'm in favor of windmills. And solar. And geothermal. But they aren't going to be powering a big part of the country any time soon.

Of course I was exaggerating. But Obama doesn't seem to have any plan other than taxing oil companies, hoping other countries will work with us and hoping we can develop alternatives. We can develop alternatives all we want - great - but we need to get our natural resources out of the ground in the meantime; something that Obama is still against even though the media thinks he changed his mind.

    A good op-ed on energy:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121797838304214973.html?mod=fpa_mostpop

At the link a lot of specifics about energy requirements and what would be involved in supplying the need with "alternatives".

Do you know anything about football?

You, Harry and Jack should probably have to contribute to the main board.

What people are missing on the subject of tire pressure bit, isn't that it won't help you get better mileage with your vehicle. The issue is that it's an idiotic answer, by a potential POTUS, for a serious problem that affects the lives of many. Before people harp on me for saying that, understand that McLame's next detailed plan, will be his first. I'm not voting for either guy cuz they're both awful candidates for the Potus. Anyhow, when oil hits $140 a barrel, gas $4, and home heating oil near $5, you don't tell people to inflate their tires. A POTUS should have an indepth idea, or policy, that reassures the populace moving forward. Telling people to infalte their tires when oil hits $140, is akin to telling them to cut out coupons when they voice their concerns over the increased costs of food. Sure, cutting out coupons will save you 3-4% according to the Bureau of Green Grocers, but it doesn't do anything to deal with the more comprehensive issue of higher food costs.

Patient: "Doc, it hurts when I do this"

Doctor: "Well, then don't do that"

No, what people are missing, is that Obama mentioned tire pressure along with other sources of conservation, and it wasn't the 'plan' to free us from foreign oil (like someone here posted). Then, after being ridiculed for it, gramps restates that proper tire pressure is good.

Exactly, whenever Obama speaks everything he says is put under a microscope.. when McBush speaks it is ok and he gets a pass.. and then we hear the crap about the drive by media?? It makes no sense...

Well here is his exact quote:

    - Aug. 1 speech in Springfield, Mo.

I bolded the text that Real World is referring to and that you seem to be skimming over. BO's words are his words. We would save as much oil as we are talking about drilling by inflating our tires? and getting regular tune-ups?(fyi few individuals own cars that still need tune-ups)

Real World is 100% correct, BO's statement is silly, rediculous, condescending, and elitist. "Oh, you need fuel for your cars? Then my little unwashed one, check your tires." Face it, it was a dumb-ass statement! What a joke for a presidential nominee.

McCain is not much better, but he's not going to replace our freedom with a heavy-handed nanny socialist state like BO.

I don't think his comment is elitist, I just wanted to point out why people were able to successfully criticize it, or why it wasn't what people were looking for.
