Obama and his crew must think all businesses are stuck here and will have to do/pay what he says. That was the problem back when everyone was whining about oil prices and regulating oil traders - they could just go elsewhere to trade oil contracts. Same here, it's a global world and if this guy is going to raise taxes on business they can just leave. Taxing business is not the way to do this - duh - it just puts a drag on the engine of our economy.

No they are moving from the US, some other companies are moving away from Bermuda because:

"One trend that we see is that particularly Bermuda-based companies are now moving to Switzerland," said Martin Frey, a partner at law company Baker & McKenzie. "That may only partly be obviously for tax reasons, but also for security reasons and the fact that the Obama administration may go after them."

I'm sure that Obama is very popular in Bermuda now too.

Here's the companies specifically named in the article:

Over the past six months companies including offshore drilling contractors Noble Corp and Transocean, energy-focused engineering group Foster Wheeler and oilfield services company Weatherfield International have all announced plans to shift domicile to Switzerland.

Here are the companies websites listing their corporate offices:

Noble Corp. moving from SUGARLAND, TEXAS
    Noble Corporation - Contact Page

Transoceans moving from HOUSTON, TEXAS (already moved to Switzerland)
    Transocean :: Our Company

Foster Wheeler moving from CLINTON (Kinda Ironic isn't it), NEW JERSEY
    Contact Us: Corporate Headquarters

Weatherford International actually has the notification of there move on the website already!!!

Obama is absolute death to our economy

    Halliburton much?

funny how you guys seem to be noticing all this kind of $h!T happening when Obama is president, but when BUsh is giving no bid contracts to Haliburton and KBR who all pay no taxes from a PO box in tha Caymans, you shut your mouths...

I suggest you all check yourselves.....

*****ing about this, as you all kept quiet show exactly where you all are in this world....

    READ...

    Halliburton Watch

For decades, the U.S. tax code has encouraged companies like Halliburton to transfer the location of its subsidiaries from the United States to foreign countries. This is one reason why only thirty-six of Halliburton's 143 subsidiaries are incorporated in the United States and 107 subsidiaries (or 75 percent) are incorporated in 30 different countries.

There are two methods by which Halliburton lowers its tax liability on foreign income: (1) By establishing a "controlled foreign corporation" and (2) By establishing a subsidiary inside a low tax, or no tax, country known as a "tax haven."

For what? For moving from a country with the 2nd highest corporate tax and over-legislation to a country with a very low corporate tax and a friendlier business atmosphere?

It isn't against the law to move to a different country.

of course your confused you voted for Obama.........

How many people do you think these companies employ?? How much payroll taxes do you think they pay? Moving their executives alone to Switzerland is a multi-million dollar tax hit for the US. Government's job is not to "go after" business, the Government's job, is provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty....boy that's good, I think I read that someplace before...........

I'm not blaming specifically BO. Our corporate taxes are way too high, which is the fault of both congress and the last few administrations. I don't blame Halliburton for creating subsidiaries overseas. They are in business to make money - like every other business. You're going to see more and more corps doing this in the future.

Businesses exist to return profit to their shareholders, and calling them names and saddling them with heavy tax burdens are somewhat unappealing and counterproductive to that end. It won’t keep productive capital in the US, and will generally steer it to places that have, ahhhhhh......... a more welcoming business environment maybe. ;)

Yes...it would fix a lot of things, but the corporations are afraid it will discourage you from consuming anything, as if Americans would stop being narcissistic pigs all of a sudden.

In the late 70s major companies started moving out of New York City because the city and state taxes were becoming confiscatory, totally out of control. That spawned a major exodus to places like Stamford, Connecticut, which ended up taking on dozens of new corporate headquarters because the Connecticut climate was far more business-friendly.

Now, thanks to the Obama mania movement, companies don't even want to stay in America anymore; no state is safe from the greedy paws of the new socialist thieves. Obama is looking more and more like Hooogo Chavez Lite every day.
