Patriots sign rookie WR Brandon Tate - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com

So far, only the Ohrnberger, Butler, and Richard signings are official. Vollmer, Pryor, and Tate are all reported to have agreed/signed. Brace is close - Chris Price said on this forum that should be done by tomorrow. Once Vollmer, Pryor, and Tate go official, the Pats will be at 80 players. Signing Brace, Chung, Ingram, Edelman, Bussey, and McKenzie will all require cutting a player.

Interesting. I would really like him to work out and be our kick returner eventually especially now that Hobbs is gone.

It's nice to have Chris Price, Chris Gaspar, and Mike Reiss following

the signings/agreements so closely. The bulk of the NFL news at

the Herald comes from a writer called Associated Press.

Who would it be I wonder:eek:

Not so hasty, BB might just PUP Ty Warren or one of the others rehabbing during the OTAs to create the required space.

Bingo Box, that's probably exactly what BB will do.

Maybe Tate himself is destined for PUP. Or IR ??? What are the odds he's only available in September 2010 ?

To create the space, though, he'd have to put Warren on Reserve/PUP within the week (or whenever the pick signs), knocking him out until at least Week 7.

That's not outside the realm of possibility given two groin surgeries...Miguel's FAQ isn't explicitly sure that Active/PUP counts against the 80-man limit, he thinks it does, but had no definitive knowledge.

According to the PUP list on Stampede Blue, players on the Active/PUP

(training camp) count against the 80 man roster. Players have to

be listed on Active/PUP to be eligible for the Reserve/ PUP (regular

season) where they do not count on the 53 man roster. Once a player

practices, he is not eligible for PUP.

Reiss reported this guy's signing bonus was $755k! Anyone else really surprised with this number?

Bummer, that means there's six players to cut, or at least five if McKenzie goes to IR or Reserve/PUP...unless there's a CBA final year exemption kicking in somewhere.

Nah, they do count.

I just really hopes he gets some playing time this season, he is a great talent and his injury has had plenty of time to heal so I hope he can worth up the strength/courage to get on the field at some point...

Isn't Tyson DeVree's official title "Guy Who Gets Cut By The Pats"? That'll make room for one.

Well, by the numbers, his official title is "Guy who gets signed/re-signed by the Pats." :confused2:
