It's all good, the negative stuff is normal that I would have expected. He's way ahead of where Rivers was and should be fine. Of course, we do HAVE TO franchise Cassel just in case ;)

It looks like all the fears about Brady last month were a little premature. Curran seems to have gotten some bad information. He was right about looseness in the MCL, but appears to be wrong about the ACL which is huge since the MCL can heal on its own.

With this article, Michael Smith's story, and Charlie Casserly all saying basically the same thing. I think it is safe to assume that this is the correct information.

    Great stuff.

Incidentally, what an awesome quote from Fernando Bryant:

"I'm a big Brady fan. I hope he comes back," said Bryant, who was cut by the Patriots out of training camp. , yesterday during Super Bowl Media Day. "He's one of the coolest guys I've ever met in my life. In my 10 years in the NFL, I've never seen a quarterback that interacts with the team the way he does: offense, defense, and special teams. I'm not going to lie. He's special."

If this is true, Cassel might be trade bait.

As great as this news is, the truth is that until he gets on the field this summer in a simulated session no one's really going to know the important answers to the questions

OT: Check out Fernando Bryant's comments too

This is excellent news but beware of the infamous "Source". We all know how those guys are.

Regardless though, this story made my month. If I knew it was 100% true, it would have made my year (well... football-wise anyway).

Just the fact alone that he's dropping back and throwing passes is such great news. Hmmm, if Cassel stays could some wacky formation be created a la the "wildcat". Why not have Brady and Cassel behind centre? :D

I think that is called the A-11 or something. A high school is using it...we had a thread about it going.

Edit: Here is the website - http://a11offense.com/
I don't think it would work with two passers...maybe with one solid passer (Brady) and a QB who is a very good runner and decent passer (maybe Michael Vick or Randall Cunningham).

Can't wait to hear what Tom Curran has to say next. Maybe it will be that Brady's injury is terminal and he only has two months to live.

Remember too that he has the best part here of 5 months to train, get fit and strengthen that joint before he starts contact work/camp etc

My feeling is he'll be fine. You see guys in Soccer get ACL tears and be back playing in 6-8 months - shorter time than Tom has and with a lot more contact

What this does mean is we trade Cassel .. if we even Franchise him

So i'm confused. Brady is dropping back, and passing? Where? According to another thread this morning, he was swimming, and eating chips with his chicky babe down in Mexico. :D

I hope he's not playing football on the beach. That didnt go to well Edwards

Re: Brady to be ready for Opening Day

Tom Curran is usually pretty reliable and usually has excellent sources, the assumption here is that Springer and Gaspar know more.. there are no sources stated.. he may or may not be ready, but so far these scribes are making a living on conjecture..

I would put my money on Curran, more than any other writer as he as a lot of access to the Pats org and knows a lot of people within it.

I agree, I love the good news and all, but we should not get too high or too low with good news or bad.. Even though we figure he is coming back ,we still have to be cautiously optimistic till June at the earliest..

This will diminish our leverage to get more value in a Cassel trade.

    Keep it quiet, Globe!!

Re: Brady to be ready for Opening Day

Yea, but you got all the Media guys and tons of NFL Players and Coaches together in Tampa, something is going to come out of there about Tom.

This is the third positive report about Tom's recovery in as many days - which BTW, coincides with how long all those guys have been together in Tampa - So while I like Curran as well, it looks like he was fed bad info.

I am sticking to the Disgruntled Team Doc as the source for Curran. I can't prove it, obviously, but I'd put money on that's who it was.

    More "SOURCES"...LOUD SIGH...
Until I SEE Tom Brady on the football field with MY OWN TWO EYES, all of these reports are meaningless to me. It's nice to hear good news, but I'm just not going to by what Curran or anyone else is selling.
Of course, if BB can confirm this information, then I would have to believe it. ;)
FWIW, the guys at Patriots Insiders posted the same information that Schefter et al have been reporting a couple of weeks ago in their insiders forum. I took it with a grain of salt back then and I still do.
ALL THAT BEING SAID...when Adam Schefter, Casserly, P. King and now even the Globe are all saying that Brady will be ready for the start of the season, it does make one start to think that there might be something to their stories. Other than Curran, there hasn't been any other negative report about Brady's recovery. Curran has been slowly backtracking too while being defensive about his report.

Lord I can't wait for training camp to start.

Isn't that why there are stories "floating" around that we'll keep both of them for 2009?
