When gas sky rocketed when Bush was in office, everyone wanted Bush's head(including me). Now gas prices are sky rocketing again and no one is complaining about obama. Why does Mr. Soetoro get a pass? LIBERALS ARE SUCH HYPOCRITES! The US has untapped oil fields that are bigger than in the middle east. These oil fields could last the US over 1000 years. DRILL BABY DRILL. Lets be less dependent on foreign oil and lets bring gas from 5.00/gal to $1/gal!!!!!:rocker:

Loon Liberal Obama Groupies would rather burn wood and ride bikes than drill for our own oil, it's an obsession with them.

Obama is Far worse than Bush ever was in all respects (war, gitmo, economy, vacations, and the first lady plants spinach on top of the white house septic tank) THE DEMOCRAT LOON MEDIA TURNS DEAD SILENT hypocrite is a much to kinder word for the double standard phony bastards.

I heard that the reason the oil fields on our land are untapped is because the processing of this particular crude would bring the cost over what we're paying now.
I don't know if this is true or not because I suspect environmentalist protectionism here.
But if someone knows more about it please enlighten us.

We are already the top 3rd producer of Oil... There isn't much more oil left to "tap" in America that will make a dent in our needs.

America produces something like 10 million barrels a day, which sadly isn't even half of what we use.

Even if we increased productivity, it's not as if we would be keeping that Oil here... Oil is sold on a global market, so producing more, probably just means more supply, a lower cost, and more oil sent to other countries. We actually DID import less last year than the year before that. The Reality is... the rest of the world needs more and more oil. We consume 1/4 of all oil produced, and China and India are consuming more, which puts a pinch on supply...

We aren't tapping what little untapped reserves we have, becuase simply put, Oil is a non-renwable resource, and we would like to have a few billion barrels once Saudi Arabia runs out...

Starting and maintaining is worse than maintaining.

Obama inherited a horrible economy and it's marginally better.

Bush inherited a good economy and it went to sh*t.

If you want to blame the President -- which is dubious in both cases -- Bush loses.

    Data?

I don't remember gas prices being a major criticism of Bush. (But maybe it was drowned out by everything else he did wrong that was so much worse and more important :) )

Which libruls were criticizing Bush for gas prices but are now silent?

Love to hear what your sources for this are...

    Prove it...

Even the Oil fields in Alaska wouldn't produce but 1 million barrels a day, or 7% of the currnet world production levels.

These are the fields I was referring to.
Most of our drilling is done in the south around Texas and the Gulf of Mexico. Not to mention Alaska.
Furthermore, most of that oil is sold to other counties and we buy the middle east oil for our own consumption because it's cheaper...I guess.

All Oil is sold on a Global Market.

You put a barrel of Oil up for sale, and anyone can buy it. We don't sell it selectively and only buy cheap oil...

All oil from everywhere is the same price.

I read up on these fields a couple of years ago, the reason they aren't being tapped is because the tecnology doesn't exist yet to make it profitable. The oil is deamed unrecoverable at this time to make it worth while.

 I'm mad at you!

Seriously. I was about to start a thread with a virtually identical message, albeit phrased somewhat less diplomatically. You stole my thunder! :D

The reason America is not tapping our own oil resources is because the liberals won't let us, period, end of dicussion.

5 years ago, all the gas prices were the direct fault of Bush, Cheney, Halliburton, etc, etc.

Today? Well today the moonbats are awfully quiet on the matter.

When all else fails, post some vague, unquantifiable, unfalsifiable partisan crap and pretend you've scored some point.

No one is quiet regarding high gas prices. I don't believe anyone blamed Bush for high gas prices, as much as they blamed him for talking out his ass about our need to get off our addiction, while doing NOTHING towards doing so.
