But what I will remember is the man's columns in the Globe in the 70's and 80's. Sometimes a whole page in the Sunday paper. Full of insight, and details. These days with blogs and the net, what he wrote would seem not so special. But back then in papers, you got such elemental reporting re strategy and deals, that his column towered over them. Other writers could conjure pictures in the mind better then him (if given 300 pages) - but - in a weekly format in newsprint? Unmatched in my experience. Edes learned every move he has at Gammons side, and has never matched never mind exceeded the master.
