Getting the old crew back for TB12! :D Only we have better TE's than 07 and no Moss.

Anybody got that feeling that Belichick and McDaniels want TB12 to have every passing record next season ? LOL

Well Brady has broken 50 TDs and he has broken 5,000 yards. But not both in the same season yet. :) so who knows we might be in for a real special treat in 2012!!

Stallworth is the only true deep threat. Now that could change with TB12 throwing to Lloyd but really I see Lloyd as more of a slot guy.

I think a healthy Stallworth makes this team.

Stallworth isn't a great deep threat and Brandon Lloyd is the Pats' best deep threat right now.

I don't get why people short sell Lloyd as a deep threat when he spent most of his career as a deep threat specialist.

OMG. This is too much. First, Gonzalez, Lloyd, Stallworth, Branch back, then now Gaff. Too much WRs and not enough RBs. Gaffney is probably already the 3rd best WR on the team.

My predicted depth chart by the season would be:

1. Lloyd
2. Welker
3. Gaffney
4. Stallworth (due to lack of speed at WR)
5. Branch (for depth, in case Lloyd, Welker or Gaffney get injured)
6. Edelman (ST & some defense if needed, Welker insurance)
7. Slater (ST)

Gonzalez and Ocho will be cut for health and playbook concerns, but this is just my predictions. Feel free to disagree.

Still think Ocho will make the team

Lloyd
Welker
Gaffney
Ocho
Stallworth/Branch/Gonzalez

Slater is ST only, Edelman is gone imo, Ebert to the PS, maybe stash Branch on the shadow roster.

I do like Gaffney!

Very happy with this signing :)

My prediction of how "the rest" end up:

Edelman: cut (Vereen takes over PR and KR)
Ebert: PS
Underwood: Cut
Gonzalez: Cut
Ochocinco: Cut
Branch: #4 WR
Stallworth: #5 WR
Slater: #6/ST

We keep 6, I don't see 7.

Good signing!

Does anyone remember the post 2006 season Caldwell vs Gaffney arguments?

Those were great

Allow me to say BOOOYAAAAH, for obvious account name reasons.

(My family name is Gaffney; I'm probably one of few Gaffney Patriots custom jersey owners, which always gets strange looks in sports pubs;)

They signed Garcon and Morgan.

After the money that they tied up in Garcon, keeping Gaffney was never really an option. Man, they were dumb.

..one thing about him is intersting though, he's really come on strong over the past 3 seasons, each time taking a step down in QB.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/3561/jabar-gaffney

From Brady to Orton he jumped from a #4/3 WR to a #2 WR and had a ~270 yard improvement with the added workload.

From Orton to Orton/Tebow, still a #2 WR, ~140 yard improvement. All 3 seasons in McDaniels system.

From Orton/Tebow to Grossman/Beck, still a #2 WR, ~70 yard improvement. New System, new teammates.

He's come on strong since leaving NE. He can produce as a #2 WR (and target) in the NFL, he'll be the best 4th or 5th read in the NFL this season by a landslide.

We could potentially have an offense with 3 1,000+ yard pass catches and another 2 between 700-1000.

I'm very pleased.

The Oliver Stone in me wonders how long Wes Welker is for this world. Without WW....

Branch
Gaffney
Lloyd
Gonzalez
Stallworth
Edelman

...and those guys aren't even the primary receivers as Gronk and AH are.
Thats what Im thinking too.

You deal Welker at the top of his game. I thought the Pats would deal Welker last season because Edleman was ready. He wasnt, and may never be. With that lineup, plus the TEs, I think the Pats would be OK.

How much could Welker bring? At least a 2nd and another pick.

this offseason......

Gonna go with no. Patriots already committed over 9,000,000 to him this season, money that could have been used in many other places on free agents that are no longer on the market, Wes Welker is a patriot in 2012, and hopefully long after.

How about this scenario?

The Pats deal Welker and use the high pick and cap space to land Matt Forte. Every base would be covered. If Brady had a bad day pitching, no problem.

Why would you do that now though? Takes away an elite weapon for the 2012 season for nothing in return??

If you're really concerned about getting a pick for him, they'll get a 3rd round compensatory pick if he leaves in FA next year.

Like

I respectfully strongly disagree with that strategy. Signing RB's to huge deals in FA is never a good idea, esp when you already have Woodhead, Ridley and Vereen.

I don't want Forte at the expense of the most productive pass catcher in a 5 year span. Ever.

Records mean nothing.

Im sure Brady and BB would rather have another SuperBowl

This.

It has more to do with lack of WR depth last season that showed up in important games. Our top 3 were among the best in the league, after that we hard a sharp drop off.
