Nelson's slipping probably came to an abrupt halt today, after running a 4.35 fourty at Florida's pro-day.

Really? I heard he runs around a 4.5. Do you have a link?

Florida safety Reggie Nelson ran a 4.35 forty at Florida's Pro Day Wednesday.

He also beat four seconds in the short shuttle, which is very impressive on natural grass. This should cement Nelson's spot in the first round. New England will look hard at him with their two first-round picks.

Nelson was considered a top 15 prospect until the combine, when LaRon Landry blew scouts away with his size/speed combo.

Nelson's video looks great. Hard hitter, very physical player, team leader and a ballhawk too.

Needs to improve against the run, and may be lacking in the intelligence category as well.

I wonder if a team will turn him into a cornerback since he is very fast and a little undersized.

it's not a bad idea if you can get it done. who knows where Nelson might slip to or might get drafted in the early teens.

Getting back the 2nd from Green Bay would be nice. AT 47 there would still be some real good value.

hey if the value chart equals out why not. the pats could always trade a first rounder for a 2nd this year and a first rounder next year. alot of possibilities.

If they played in any division but the NFC West the pick would have been better.

You realize, of course, that Maroney had a personal workout at Gillete stadium last year before the draft.

Bingo. Nelson is probably my favorite player in the draft.

You guys should play close attention to any Florida defensive player in this draft. They had a great defense last year, and more importantly, Meyer and Belichick are tight.

Brandon Siler is the other guy you should be watching.

Nelson just ran a 4.35 40 with a 6.67 3 cone and a 4.15 short shuttle. If he was sliding, he's not anymore.

He won't "slide" in terms of teams souring on him but players drop all the time. People always focus on the 23 teams ahead of us but forget the other side, that only 23 players can go before us. That said, I think he'll be gone at #24 :)

That wouldn't be bad at all. Nelson is a true impact player. They could then grab a corner (Josh Wilson?) or a linebacker (David Harris?) at 47...

Yeah, there wasn't any meat behind that rumor but it was a totally reasonable way of thinking. If we ended up with Nelson and Harris I would be very happy.

I really hope we draft him. I've been a huge Gator fan all my life and I've seen pretty much every single game that he's played. He'd fit perfectly in the Pats' scheme.

Yeah, just stick a 3 in front of that 5.

    4.35 on grass

It was on NFL Network. Evidently he blew away the scouts on more than just the 40, and is expected to shoot up the board to mid-first round.

I'm not sure if anyone said this yet but...

Don't ever count on players working out for a team to actually be picked by that team. Most of the time players work out as a "distraction" for teams to think oh the Pats want this guy?
