WASHINGTON - A defiant President Bush warned Democrats Tuesday to accept his offer to have top aides speak about the firings of federal prosecutors only privately and not under oath, or risk a constitutional showdown from which he would not back down.

You guys need to separate your personal desires from reality. Excecutive priveledge means that their testifying is a difficult deal, if at all possible.

Bull!.....national security can only count for so much....firing a lawyer, and that termination being under investigation for being a political punishment is certainly something to look inot.

if he has nothing to hide, testify under oath. whats the big deal?

    Trying to understand this one......

    a. Don't these people serve at the invitation of the President and can they not be dismissed for WHATEVER reason by the President?

    b. Isn't this part of the executive power all president's have?

    c. Whether the firing is political or not.....why does it matter in this case?

Has nothing to do with National Security. The concept is called separation of Powers. You know that constitution thingy.

It politics the Congress doesn't have oversight on Rove and all, everybody is protecting their turf. If Bush lets the dems run over him on this non scandal they will own him for the rest of his term, so he protects his turf.

Again, your personal disdain is getting the best of you. Show me where a crime has been broken? I'd like an explanation like everyone else, but the Dems have taken this too far down the politicization trail. I was watching Chris Mathews tonight, and he was saying the exact same thing, which is telling to me.

Comical. Yeah, like any administration under these conditions and circumstances would voluntarilly permit their aides to testify "in good faith".

 Sure, and the Dems are issuing supenea's in good faith too.
