And here are some of my positives as a Jets fan on the Jets.

It's kinda long, but it's just how I feel.
These are some of my positives right here.

-1st offseason in 2 or 3 seasons where Chad Pennington has been healthy

-We had a solid draft in terms of drafting starters for this Defense. We drafted D.Revis out of Pittsburg who was the #1 ranked CB in the Nation, and we also drafted D.Harris out of Michigan who was the #3 ranked MLB in the Nation. (Plus he played as a 3-4 IMLB)

-Last season Brick and Mangold were thrown into the fire as first year players and started all 16 games on the O-Line (As rookies). Ferguson had a chance to play against some of the best DE's in the game in Freeney, Seymour, and J.Taylor. Like I said before... Brick and Mangold starting all 16 games last season could have been a blessing in disguise for this upcoming season and actually one of the best things that has ever happened to this O-Line.

-The addition of Thomas Jones. K.Barlow and D.Blaylock are now long gone in the eyes of Jet fans. We now have a running back in Thomas Jones who can be our Work-Horse and a feature back in this Offense. Thats something that the coaching staff couldn't ask in K.Barlow, D.Blaylock, C.Houston or even L.Washington as a rookie last season. I feel the addition of Jones will help Leon Washington is so many different ways.

-Our Recievers. L.Coles, J.Cotch, J.Mac, B.Smith and C.Stukey is one hell of a group for opposing secondarys to try an keep up with. Last year Cotchery had one hell of a season for a first year starter, and first year working with Chad for a full season. Coles was tough as nails, J.Mac has been playing great this whole offseason, B.Smith can do alot of different things and atleast keep the Defense honest and C.Stucky has alot of potential to make some big plays for us this season. I like what I see in this group of WR's.

-Coaching staff, I love the fact that Mangini learned from two of the Best in BB and BP's. Last season we made the playoffs under a rookie coach in Mangini and a first year OC in Martys boy. This year I'm expecting big things from Mangini and Shotty as they enter year 2 and should have a better feel for the Jets as a team as far as calling the right plays, playing the right players, and overall... Just being better coaches and building upon last season. And we also have one of the best Special teams coach in all of Football in Mike Westhoff

Special teams. We really may have one of the best Special teams in all of Football. J.Miller is a game changer and is almost a promise to leave Chad and the Offense with nice field postion, M.Nugent is turning into one of the best kickers in the AFC East, B.Graham has one of the strongest legs in all of football with a crazy spin, and L.Washington, J.Miller and even C.Stukey all have potential in being play-makers in terms of Punt Returning. (If only J.Miller could catch the ball better)

The Secondary I like the fact that we have Dyson and Revis as our starting corners with J.Miller guarding the slot recievers and D.Barrett going up against oppsing teams 4th string WR.

Dyson may not be a speed burner as a #1 CB, but he does have experience and leadership with nice coverage skills.

Revis may be starting as a rookie but I feel he can be a solid #2 CB for this Jets team this year.Would Mangini really start Revis if he wasn't ready?

Miller seems like the perfect #3 CB because he is fast, quick, explosive, physical, and will be guarding opposing teams slot WR.

And Coleman and Rhodes are nice to have as starting Safetys. But Kerry Rhodes is becoming great in the eyes of many... Not just Jet fans either.

Our 2nd year playing the 3-4 I honestly feel that our Defense will benefit in so many different ways from playing within the 3-4 for the 2nd year in a row. Last year they were all rookies in a way playing in a new system with Mangini calling the shots, and had to overcome a learning curve. This year the confidence should be up in our players, which is huge is my eyes, and we should also start to see them take up blocks and execute plays better on 3rd downs.

The fact that we have players in the front 7 such as Ellis, Robertson, Vilma, Hobson, Barton, and B.Thomas in year 2 under a 3-4 D when all they ever knew how to play was the 4-3 under Herm Edwards is really starting to excite me as fan. Add the fact that we just drafted a player in D.Harris who played the 3-4 D in Michigan... And guess what? We just may have a Defense this year.

What? When you ask for positives on the Pats, doesn't that insinuate that there are negatives? Jeezus, will the disrespect ever end?

Re: From a Jets fan,I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat f

DWC, Rhodes is the biggest guy that I worry about. Frankly, he's the only guy I worry about on the Jet's defense. I'm surprised he warranted just a token mention in your list.

The Jets have a fabulous pair of WRs that will give NE trouble.

With regard to NE, I worry about a couple things

    1) Will NE do a good job of picking up the blitz?

    2) Will NE's WRs be on the same page as Brady?

    3) Will NE's safeties be good/healthy enough to be a factor in coverage?

Frankly, other than those issues, I view most everything else as a strength. Not to be pompous or arrogant, but I found it shorter to list the concerns than the strengths.

Edit to add special teams coverage. Thanks to BOR for bring that up.

Re: From a Jets fan,I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat f

I'm sure he'd have asked you to be the pivot man if he'd known. :scared: Though I must say no mention of Hank Poteat as a positive shows a true lack of football knowledge, not to mention class!

    Pats positives:
    - D-line is deeper.
    - Linebackers are more aligned with their strengths then they have been for a couple years.
    - Secondary isn't looking too shabby at the moment.
    - O-line is deep, going into their second year in a new system, has some continuity building.
    - Our QB is adequete.
    - The new RB seems to be developing nicely and it's not a bad talent pool behind him.
    - The WR pool may challenge the Jests a bit this season.
    - TE may start slow, but if the rehabs get back it's looking solid.
    - PK seems to be developing nicely.
    - Best LS in the game.
    - Return men are still shaking out, but there's some hope there with a deep and experienced pool.

    Biggest Concerns:
    - P is a concern.
    - Coverage teams will be the big question mark until we see how things shake out.

Re: From a Jets fan,I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat f

I feel the Patriots have the best QB in all of Football in T.Brady. Some say P.Manning, I have always said T.Brady. If T.Brady had Harrison and Wayne over the past 3-4 seasons... Look out.

This year Brady will have Moss and Stallworth along with Welker. Maybe the Patriots best WR's that Brady has ever had a chance to work with. But at the same time, come week one... The chemesty may not be at 100% and the Jets may beable to slip through the cracks on Defense. Thats what I pray for.

The Patriots have always had one of the best Offensive Lines... Put it this way, if the Jets had the Patriots Offensive Line I would be relaxed each and evey play when Pennington drops back in the pocket on Sundays, but that's not the case as of right now.

L.Maroney is an explosive back. The AFC East added 2 RB's with great potential in L.Maroney and L.Washington. If Maroney can stay healthy and Morris can be a solid backup... The Patriots will have a strong running attack this season. I just feel the loss of Dillion will hurt them in the Redzone... But thats about it. And K.Faulk is underrated in the eyes of many. He's been one of the best 3rd down, change of pace backs in the NFL for years now.

The loss of Seymour will hurt this Defense because he's a leader and a playmaker... But J.Green is one of the best backup DE's in all of football... There is a reason why BB has kept Green on the roster for over 6 years now, the man can play... He may not be a R.Seymour, but he's no Kimo either. Add the fact that your D-Line has Wilfork and Warren and guess what? The Pats D-Line may just survive till Seymour is 100%

The loss of Harrison in the secondary is a problem because not only is Harrison a leader of that secondary, but teams never like throwing down the middle of the field when Harrison is roaming the backfield. But then again, Sanders I believe was the starter last year when the Pats beat the Jets. So Sanders can hold his own, he's no McGraw.

The addition of A.Thomas is huge. Teddy may be up thier in age, but he brings that leadership and toughness that every 3-4 D needs. Most players who had a stroke would be in Jamica right now, just the fact that he's still playing reminds me of P.Ewing with bad knees... What can you say? Other than he loves the game of football. J.Seau can still make plays and Mike Vrabel is a player who shows up for war each and every Sunday.

A.Samuels is one hell of a CB. I would love for this man to be on the Jets. We would have Samuels and Revis as our 1-2 for years to come, with Dyson and Miller as our 3-4 with Rhodes in the secondary as a Safety. WOW. Put he's a NE Patriot... And I honestly hope he's not ready to start because of the Holdout come week one... But as a fan of the NFL, I know he will be ready come week 3.

The Patriots have a great team... I wont lie... But as a Jets fan, I'm starting to like alot of things that Mangini is doing with this Jets team... Kinda reminds me of a younger NE team without a HOF QB. We simply have a game manager in Chad,I can live with that.

Here are my top five positives about the Patriots:

    1.) They aren't the Jets
    2.) They aren't the Jets
    3.) They aren't the Jets
    4.) They aren't the Jets
    5.) They aren't the Jets

    That is all....

Re: From a Jets fan,I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat f

    Just a few items.
    1. When you say Chad is healthy for the first time in 2 or 3 seasons, your kind of holding your breath, right. Versus, Brady (enough said).
    2. Dyson, isn't he the one rumored to be traded (game is in 5 days).
    3. You drafted a linebacker. Versus, we usually don't draft lb's early, because of the knowledge it takes to play our defense. So we picked up Thomas in free agency.
    4. I lived in both Tampa and Chicago and was never bowled over by Thomas Jones. Versus Maroney, Faulk, Evans.
    5. I'll take our receivers.
    6. Coaching, who do you want the teacher or the pupil.
    7. I'll take our front 7.
I gave 6.5 and took the Patriots and feeling very good about it.

Re: From a Jets fan, I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat

I just wanna add this as a Jets fan.

With Moss, Stallworth, Welker, A.Thomas, all playing thier first game as Patriots and with Seymour out-J.Green in, Harrison out-Sanders in, and also this will be Maroneys first game as the feature back along with A.Samules missing time because of the hold out...

Put it this way... From a Jets fan...

This is the best time for the JEts to play the Pats... Week one.

Re: From a Jets fan, I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat

As far as the Dyson being traded rumor... LMAO, Thats why it's called a rumor. If anyone really thinks Mangini (Who works with the secondary) would actually trade his #1 CB 5 days before the season starts, vs a NE team with Moss, Stallworth, and Welker as WR's really needs to stop believe everything they read or hear on T.V...

Get real... Dyson aint going anywhere.

Re: From a Jets fan,I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat f

ok ill play this game. ill give you 2 reasons others can add on.

Randy Moss: sure, he wont be the randy moss from minnesota but he doesn't have to be. hes still better than 90% of the receivers in the league. he'll give the patriots an established threat so safetys cant cheat up yo the los.

Maroney: last year the pats were a 3rd down conversion away from representing the afc in the superbowl with receivers that secondaries didn't respect. as a result defensive coordinators put 8 defenders in the box and challenged our receivers with mediocre speed to beat their corners. guess who benefits with the additions of burners like Stallworth and Moss? Thats right, Maroney. safetys will be forced to sit back in coverage more often which will lead to a breakout season by maroney. maroney had a good rookie campaign with defenders constantly putting 8 defenders in the box. Think about that.

    ps: Pats 28 jets 10

Re: From a Jets fan, I would like to hear some Positives about the Patriots from Pat

I don't know. With the Jets putting the guard that sucks the least in Pete Kendall's old spot, Thomas Jones returning from a calf injury, Revis starting in his first NFL game, Dyson coming off an injury, and Robertson still at NT; I think it a pretty good time for the Pats to be facing the Jets.

Tell me which guard that wouldn't even make our practice squad figured out how to put his helmet on the right way and will be "manning" the line in between Ferguson and Mangold?
