Fox to make reality TV show out of company layoffs

NEW YORK – The Fox network is making a reality show out of the troubled economy. An upcoming series titled, "Someone's Gotta Go," lets employees of a small business decide which one of their colleagues will be laid off.

Fox says it has no air date yet for the series, which is being developed by the company behind "Big Brother" and "Deal or No Deal." Each week, a different company lays off an employee.

Fox also wouldn't reveal the show's host, which it says is a business consultant who will offer advice to participating companies.

This seems like a pretty sick idea that will unfortunately get huge ratings.

Back in the 90's, I predicted that Fox would be the first American TV network to televise public death sentences - - and I'm sticking to that prediction.

It reminds me of the movie 'Running Man'. I see Fox being the most likely real-life network who would do such a thing.

So the ownership is different? PF13 distinctly wrote if he worked for a COMPANY that did that, he would quit........

I have no clue but if you watch many shows on Fox you won't find it to be a bastion of Conservatism. My favorite show is House (on Fox) and some of the stuff on that makes me think I'm watching Patters on TV.

He was talking about working for the company participating, not the company that broadcasts it.

Oh, I get it. The company that BROADCASTS and PROMOTES something like this is completely innocent and honorable.

    Thanks for the clarification.

......and for anyone who has thier head so far up their ass that it's wedged in their upper intestines, the Fox television network and Fox News are owned by the same guy.

There's so much sh!t, I don't see what's extra wrong with this - not that I will be watching.

It's irrelevant from a political sense, though. MSNBC is owned by NBC so does everything NBC does have to be above board without it reflecting on MSNBC as a political channel ??? Nope.

Not a Mod in this forum ;) If the Mods of this forum are upset about my using the word "ass", then I sincerely apologize and politely await my fate.

Anyhow, I thought I was doing a public sefvice to inform the people who have their heads firmly ensconced in their own intestines. They have every right to know that their favorite two networksd are owned by the same nice man!

You're still a moderator. And you're full of sh!t here unless you can defend every show NBC airs as it's owned by the same people as MSNBC.

Sorry, but I never "defended NBC" in the first place. As being owned by the same company, they are completely in the same bed with MSNBC.

    What's your point?

My point is that Fox News doesn't have to answer to the regular Fox channel any more than MSNBC does to NBC. It's stupid and anyone who doesn't see it is stupid. Yes, that would be you. Do I need to start threads saying "look what's on NBC - ha ha, that makes MSNBC culpable" ? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

You can do whatever you please.

However, just about everyone on earth whose head is free and clear from their own intestines (I'm having fun with this!) realizes that NBC must be seen as a partisanship tainted media outlet the past few years - - since the advent of MSNBC. I'm not arguing that at all. It is what it is. David Gregory, Tim Russert (in the past), Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow all appear on both outlets - - why? Because it's hypocritical to make believe that there is no connection when the checks are all signed by the SAME guy.

Why the hell do you think all those evangelicals boycotted Disney theme parks when ABC aired Ellen deGeneres' show????

If YOU choose to delude yourself with some fairy tale, go ahead, enjoy the ride.

I'm not talking about the political hacks, er, I mean analysts, that NBC employs but the shows. Does MSNBC look bad due to a stupid show like Biggest Loser being on NBC ? Of course not.

It doesn't have to. MSNBC does a great job of making itself look stupid on its own.

But your comparison stinks since many of the shows on NBC air three weeks later on MSNBC on the weekends, late night, etc. Howie Mandel, Don Trump, that Hansen guy, etc all get more face time in re-runs on MSNBC than they do on NBC. Once again, there is no "curtain". Same company, same responsibility. NBC is NOT making the silly pretense that News Corp evidently is trying to fool folks like you with.

If Bank of America had a sister company that was laundering money in Iran, guess what? ........
