Charlie Wagner: 1912-2006

Reading baseball icon “Broadway†Charlie Wagner, 93, was found dead in his car outside First Energy Stadium shortly before midnight Wednesday.

Wagner, who spent 70 years with the Boston Red Sox organization, had attended a Reading Phillies game earlier in the evening.

I met him not too long ago. It was not at the stadium, but, helped him take up his groceries. I saw an older gentleman struggling taking them up the steps, so I helped him. He wanted to pay me for it, but I said, no, because I looked at it as doing a duty of helping out a senior citizen.
 
One of the good guys has left and many will miss him...R.I.P. Charlie.
