    My Jersey:

    I found five:

    CB Darius Butlet (Carolina)
    CB Jonathan Wilhite (Chicago)
    QB Zac Robinson (Cincinnati)
    LB Gary Guyton (Miami)
    WR Tiquan Underwood (Tampa Bay)

None of these seems remotely interesting. Maybe Tiquan.

    My Jersey:

Ex-Pats let go Friday (53): Darius Butler, Gary Guyton, Dan Gronkowski, Isiah Stanback, Jonathan Wilhite, Zac Robinson, Tiquan Underwood, Russ Hochstein

Ex-Pats let go during Monday's (75) cuts: Thomas Clayton, Landon Cohen, Thomas Austin, Antwaun Molden, Matt Katula, Kade Weston, Thomas Welch.

In my opinion the only one that is somewhat surprising is Underwood.

I think the Guyton cut is surprising. I would consider bringing him back if I was BB. Can play inside and out, knows are schemes and is extremely athletic LB. I know he was in the dog house toward the end of the year but he was decent player earlier in his career.

I liked him just a little too, but he's a bit soft and the word on him is that he's lost a step already. If depth becomes an issue and he's available, then why not?

Considering how much this forum was in agreement in wanting to run Guyton out of town in 2010 and 2011 for being such a liability on defense, I'm mildly surprised that anybody brought up the consideration of his returning to the Pats.

Then again perhaps I should not be surprised (part of the grass is always greener syndrome: hate the player when he's here, love him once he's gone).

I think it was quite obvious that BB lost faith in him last year based on how often he was a healthy inactive. For a player whose weakness was against the run but whose strength was speed he didn't particularly impress in pass coverage. Do we really expect him to suddenly improve at this point? I would say that at minimum other players such as Rivera have more of a potential upside. Guyton was a good story his rookie year but I think at this point we know his ceiling, and it's doesn't appear to be that high.

    Guyton sucks and is soft
    Carpenter sucks and is soft

If things go well, neither will ever wear a Patriots uniform again.

If Bill had acquired any other LBs worthy of sticking on the 53 ahead of Guyton & Carpenter
(e.g.: drafting Mark Herzlich & keeping AJ Edds - maybe he would've stayed healthy here),
then I would've had no problem waiving them good riddance.
It is unfortunate that Fletcher is lost for the season, firstly because he is a good player, and
secondly because he would've made expendable the useless Mike Rivera, who is already
entering his 4th season, so at this point we already know his ceiling too.

Bill needs to keep his eyes on the waiver wire for LBs; he's made treasure of other men's trash
before, so who's to say that he can't do it again?

Guyton earned a spot as a promising UDFA with unknown upside. After several seasons coaches realized that his speed at LB was negated by his inability/unwillingness to make contact. Sorta a major problem for a LB.

As much as I'm not enthused by our backup LB corps, I must admit that Rivera et. al, have uncharted upside. Guyton has proven that even the desperate Phins see no hope for his abilities.

Good health and good luck post NFL, Gary. Hope you've invested prudently.

He was injury waived. No one claimed him so he is on their IR. Probably means they cut him next season.

He flashed so much in his rookie season and in TC going into year two. Then something clicked negatively in his mind, and he starting playing tentative and was always a step slow as a result. Now, he's spiraling into the abyss of guys with great athletic ability and potential that were never able to put it together.

Butler might still not be fully recovered from the concussion suffered w/ Carolina last year.
According to Panthers.com, he was waived w/ an injury settlement. Too bad.

Wilhite didn't have much altitude to fall from. As a 4th round pick, his career here was probably better than should have been expected.

Gary Guyton is horrible. Please, do not tempt fate by wishing him back. I would rather have Carpenter, if that's the choice.
