Former Patriots DE Willie McGinest to Serve as Honorary Captain Sunday
By:

Willie McGinest was a big part of the reason Robert Kraft's championship objective ultimately became a reality for the Patriots....

Willieeeee !!! , dude looks like he could still play too...except maybe the little gray.

Probably my favorite Pats defensive player of all time.

I LOVE that move for this game. I heard he spent some time with Jamie Collins last week before the game and would love it if he can do more of that - - Collins may be the new McGinest. We haven't had a tall, fast LB like that since Willie and Sunday may turn on how the Pats can try to shutdown Julius Thomas.

I think Collins may be more athletic

I became a fan of the Pats back in the Hannah-Grogan-Stanley Steamer-Tippet days. One of the things that makes me real proud to still call myself a fan of the Patriots today is how the owner really tries to make the Patriots a LEGACY TEAM.

He built a Patriots Hall of Fame, they have inductions and he is constantly involving guys who were loyal players in the organization.

McGinest was a great player and I hope his honorary cptcy inspires collins and ninko as the D needs to have an AWESOME game to stop pay-me and right the wrongs of playoffs-past.

What kind of shape is he in? Maybe him and Andre Carter could switch out.

That's so funny, I was just thinking EXACTLY the same thing.

If I remember correctly, Denver was the last place that Willie played a game for the pats.

Makes sense. 1st draft pick in Krafts ownership.

Maybe during the coin toss he can decipher Manning's tells and let the D know what they are!

I always remember in that awesome ending of a Colts/Pats game where the Pats were up by less than a TD, were out of timeouts but in desperate need of regrouping, the Colts were inside the 5, Willie had an injury (cough cough), so they had to stop the clock. Willie went out for a play, came back in and stuffed the run from the 1 as time expired. Willie said he knew what the play was going to be because Manning always tapped his butt on the right side if he was switching the play to a run.

We could use some of that magic on Sunday, Willie!!
