    I thought this was interesting:

Scott Pioli - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"As of mid-November, Pioli is in discussion with the NFL's Detroit Lions franchise to take over as President and COO."

If you check the IP's WhoIS data, the IP address is registered to Ford Motor Company, the owners of the Lions:

    Wishful thinking or office rumor?

Is that the same Ford Motor Company whose CEO just flew to DC in his Gulfstream IV private jet to ask the taxpayers here to bail out his failed management to the tune of $25,000,000,000?

Actually, not necessarily. IIRC, if it were a position that put Pioli in sole charge of personnel decisions, then Pioli would be free to interview at any time, as he does not currently have that authority.

You understand that the entire auto industry is in the tiolet, and that the CEO of Ford flying in a jet to a meeting has little to nothing to do with anything at all, correct.

Haha, someone posts that Scott might leave, and all the homers are looking for anything they can find to attack!

    Example:

Poster - Rumor b says that the Mayor of Detriot thinks that the Lions will beat the pats!

Homers: Is this the same IDIOT who is the mayor of the city that has Americas highest murder rate and is in social shambles! WHAT A JERK! Wow, this guy it OUT OF LINE!

    Hahaha!

He couldn't interview in the middle of the season, however. At least not according to this article: In the Game

Now that you mention it, they DO have a high murder rate. What's up with that?

Consider: a package to the Lions including Pioli, McDaniels as head coach and Cassel at quarterback. And we'd get no compensation!

Well, there is a direct correlation between anti-gun laws and violent crime. The stronger the laws, the more violent crime.

For example, up until a few months ago, Washington DC prohibited ownership of handguns, yet had a higher per-capita firearms death rate in 2007 than Baghdad, according to the FBI's statistics.

That, or, Lions fans are finally realizing that the Lions will never be leaving, and likely never be getting better.

This is most likely the closest to the truth. Some PR guy thinking if he plants a nugget like this it will be stumbled upon, media will pick up on it, blah blah.

Ford is 2nd only to Chrysler in terms of being in the toilet. And you are incorrect that its the ENTIRE Auto industry that is in trouble. Nissan, Toyota, and others haven't asked the US to bail them out. And please don't tell me its because they aren't based here because those companies have wholly owned subsidiaries here in the US.

It also doesn't change the fact that the plane is probably owned by the Ford Corporation and them using money to fly out to talk to Pioli should be considered wasteful.

Now, that being said, companies waste money every day.. Its how industrial engineers still have jobs. But I don't really want to get into the politics of it.

C'mon....politicians don't let facts get in the way of their feel good laws. As long as it passes the "if it saves just one child" litmus test....it becomes law.

On Pioli....he turned down the $15 million offer from Seattle who was a decent team at the time. I don't see him going to Detroit but I have been wrong on more than one occasion.

The Giants job probably would have been his dream job starting out. After 2004 he turned down billionaire Paul Allen's $15M offer of full control of the Seahawks. I think he likes it here, has unfinished business, and I think he may be in line to replace BB as the COO of the Patriots whenever... I also think Dallas loves the stability here, something she never experienced with her Dad growing up in a football family. For some people it really is about more than money and winning matters. The unique thing here is that starts at the top. Which is one reason they can look a player in the eye here and with a straight face and ask them what matters most to you...
