Either through his illegal wiretaps or otherwise, I ask you one simple question.

How many convictions does Bushs AG have?

    Happy Holidays

This is a major difference in how the two sides view the war on terror. One side views it as a legal battle(I believe they refer to it as fighting a more sensitive war), where the enemy has full legal rights in a court of law. The other side views it as an actual war, where the enemy needs to be killed when the opportunity presents itself, or is captured and held as an emeny combatant without a trial in a court of law. I will leave it to each individual to decide for themselves as to which way is more effective in achieving victory.

PFIM, the issue with the law concerns the rights of American citizens and upholding our Constitution, which is what at least Democrats want to fight for. The issue of the law concerns our respecting international laws that outlaw using chemical weapons, torturing and abusing people, and not always ensuring that the Red Cross has access to our prisoners.

One side views the war as a moral battle, where we need to prevail while at the same time not surrender our values; the other side views the war as a fight that must be defended without criticism because Bush started it.

The Republican party is led by morally bankrupt individuals. They make racist Reagan look like a decent man.

There are many things, but two come to mind: he launched in presidential campaign in Philadelphia, MS, then known only as the place where 3 civil rights workers were killed. Later on, some of his campaign leaders would admit that the campaign was launched there as part of their drive to win the white south. The other thing was he lied (and later didn't deny doing so) about welfare queens driving around in Cadillacs. He created the myth of the black woman who has 14 children so she can get a lot of government aid, and then uses that aid to buy fancy cars. Of course, there's much more, but those are two of the most blatant examples.

So he's racist for a strategic move that didn't hurt anyone, and for calling the freebie welfare system like it was (go live in an inner city and listen to the folks there speak about getting an extra $ in their check when this one comes along, can't put food on the table or spend time checking the kids homework, but it's ok to buy the bling-bling. Regardless of color, our welfare system has produced generations of people who see it as a goal, not something to work up from.)

Yes, he was racist. He played the race card. As far as welfare goes, that's a different issue. It clearly needed to be fixed. Reagan didn't fix it. He simply cut it. Clinton attempted to fix it, but the results so far are mixed.

Back to the point. Certainly, we would expect by no some very high profile cases of justice being brought down on those who masterminded the 911 plot, in addition to other plots against americans.

Is the Bush Justice Department that incompetant or have we simply been incarcerating people that had nothing to do with terrorism??

C'mon righties, you can provide some defense of our tactics here, can't you???

Why do you think Jose Padilla wants his day in federal court, but is routinely denied and held unconstitutionally without right to a trial?

One side wants us to WIN the war on terror, the left wants us to LOSE it simply so they can get their binkies into power.

I dont see it that way at all. George Bush will look like a softy compared to whoever the next president is going to be if we have another 9/11.

The deulsion is that the war on terror will be fought and won in the courtroom. It won't - it will be (and is) fought and won on the battlefield.

These are terrorists, not soldiers of a recognized government. They have no protection under the articles of war or the Geneva Convention.

So, the courtroom serves no purpose here.

Not true. Terrorism can only be won by infiltration, ground intelligence, spies and international pressure. They win every time when we resort to combat. Today's terrorist don't have tanks. You can never win a war on terrorism by trying to use conventional means.

Are you assuming that there are no American citizens who are guilty of aiding or abetting terrorism? Or do you believe that if our security police regard a citizen as suspicious, that citizen should be denied his/her rights under the Constitution?
