    Joe Flacco (approximately $20M annually)
    Dennis Pitta (approximately $6M annually)

Both are among the highest paid players at their positions, and I'm not sure if I've ever seen such a waste of money. To call either one average would be generous. Flacco is clearly a fraud who got hot once at the right time and will never sniff the same success again. That was evident even before he signed the contract, based on the other 99.9% of his career aside from his Super Bowl hot streak. Pitta, meanwhile, is a 1,000 yard receiver. He has just over 1,000 career yards, in four seasons.

I looked at teams that have a starting QB and best skill player, each with a minimum of a three year deal, and no rookie contracts. Granted, there are bad deals in here, but at least most of the players are pro-bowl caliber, or at least have been pro-bowl caliber in the recent past.

    34M- Matt Stafford- Calvin Johnson
    28M- Matt Ryan- Roddy White
    27M- Jay Cutler- Brandon Marshall
    27M- Aaron Rodgers- Jordy Nelson
    27M- Drew Brees- Marques Colston
    26M- Joe Flacco- Dennis Pitta
    25M- Tony Romo- Jason Witten
    24M- Eli Manning- Victor Cruz
    24M- Carson Palmer- Larry Fitzgerald
    23M- Philip Rivers- Antonio Gates
    23M- Ben Roethlisberger- Antonio Brown
    21M- Tom Brady- Rob Gronkowski
    20M- Alex Smith- Dwayne Bowe

And Pitta could be replaced with a fifth round draft pick in an instant. There is truly nothing impressive about him, and the numbers don't lie. He is also 28 years old and is coming off a major injury. I'm guessing that Scott Chandler, who is physically more impressive and an overall better player with no injury history, will wind up with a 3 year deal worth about 3M annually.

He went on a hot streak at the most opportune time, might want to check with Satan to see if they signed a deal prior to that season. The ravens were stuck, guess they could've tagged him and let him suck for the year.

That's a lot of money for a guy who is half the receiver and a quarter of the blocker that Gronk is, and has injury concerns of his own.

Have Flacco and Pitta show you their rings. Or the three other sets of higher priced QB/WRs that have rings. While Pats fans celebrate nifty thriftyness, 4 QBs on the list that throw successful bombs are sporting hardware......But Pats win the deal......so we got that going for us...which is nice

Yeah, the Pats are stupid to bargain shop for a guy like Brady, when they should be overpaying for a guy like Flacco

I would say the Pats are far closer to contending for a championship than the Ravens are.

No duo on that list is more successful at bombs than Brady/Gronk. Perhaps you remember that Gronk was injured in each of the last three playoff games. That's what the lack of hardware should be attributed to.

Now if you wanna argue whether Gronk is injury prone or just unlucky, that's a separate discussion. But you can't dismiss the fact that we have one of the best (if not the best) 'bomb' pair for a VERY good price...FAR better than what others are paying.

The whole world saw the difference between Brady and Flacco in 2013. Flacco's biggest weapon in Boldin was traded away, he couldn't make plays happen and the Ravens missed the playoffs. Despite what many contend as a down season for Brady, he lead a depleted team to numerous comeback victories and to the AFC Championship.

Flacco is a good ordinary Quarterback who can win with all the right pieces around him. He's not a Quarterback who can simply make it happen unlike Brady.

We hardly throw bombs to Gronk, deep to intermediate, sure, bombs, absolutely not.

Gronk catches the majority of his stuff around 15-20 yards deep and then does work after the catch, i'd say its extremely rare the ball goes more than 20 yards past the LOS to Gronk. He is NOT a deep threat, he is just always open on the intermediate level due to his insane catch radius and pure strength, he can bully ANY db covering him.

Ozzie Newsome tossed it high in the air and Anquan Boldin came down with it.

Agree, I replied too quick. Point is we have a target as prolific and dependent as Gronk + a QB like Brady at incredible value.

So would borg put his 'money' where is mouth is, and give up Brady/Gronk for any other pair on that list?
