I can't speak for business per say, as I am not self employed, but my income has increased 42% since 1/20/2009.

Not that means squat about squat.....but my "economy" has improved.

In 2008, around 50% of my business was done in the US.......it is no zero outside of the occaisional out of warranty replacement part.

the funny part is that 75% of my clients are headquartered in the US......think about it

100% of my business is domestic and has never been better.

I'm happy your business is doing better. I'm happier that GM's is also doing better. Look at their last few quarterly earning reports "Strength in America, weakness overseas".

Going from Dow 6-7K to Dow 12-13K in slightly more than 3 years is a far better macro indicator than your or my individual businesses. Hopefully, you don't have Euro clients.

In the meantime, I haven't seen a "Gas Prices To Hit $5 This Year!!!!" thread in WEEKS.

    Where'd they go?

Yeah poor Obama it's not like there are 88 million Americans not in the workforce or something and gas prices have only doubled since he came into office....

Hoisted on his pwn petard I love it.

My son and two of my brother-in-laws who were out of work in 2009 are now all working full time jobs - with benefits.

Gas prices had plunged just before he took office, so looking at that one point in time is a bi misleading.

Were you concerned w/gas prices under Bush?

So you love that people are unemployed and gas prices are high?

Hey, look at what the idiot tea party Rep you reflexively defend said today:

“I look at what happened between President Obama and President Karzai as a 1930s, Chamberlain, Hitler moment,” West told radio host Frank Gaffney. “There is not going to be peace in our time.”

You going to excuse him again?

I'm just curious what his answer will be, since it's a pretty simple question. Despite its simplicity, I expect that it will be side-stepped, as usual.

To you, gas prices doubling are as important as the stock market doubling, but to each his own.

One is far more important to the working poor& middle class, the other is far more important to the 1%. We see which side you are on.

The stock market is a play ground of the 1%?

I know many people, who are not in the 1%, who partake in the Stock Market, me being one.

Plus, wouldn't anyone with a 401(k) find the stock market important?

    Just looking for clarification

Well if their 401k predated 2007 the market still hasn't recovered from the decline from the 14k+ the Dow was in 2007 (http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=...n;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=off;source=undefined; ) so their 401k has gone nowhere inthe past 5 years. Additionally most middle class people have most of their equity in realestate and that equity has been hammered since the housing bubble burst, Meanwhile if they still have a job they are paying through the nose for gas.

So now Obama is responsible for the dive the market took under Bush.

Never said that, I am talking about the preformance of the Dow over a number of years and how it impacts the 401k's of the midddle class.

I of course have identified the complicity of Bush of not fighting against Reid and Pelosi when the dems took over congress, of course the decline started as their budget for fy 2008 was put in place and Bush didn't have the guts to react.

Deficit last year under Hastert/McConnell 160B, it has been up up and away to trillion + deficits as far as the eye can see.

Remember when your hero Obama promised to cut the deficit in half?

    How's that working out?

Remember when every Republican in The House and The Senate vowed they'd do everything they could to assure that Obama was a one-term president?

That's why things are "working out" the way they are.

Still waiting for your link to the 88 million unemployed figure.......

Yesterday the head of the Republican Party encouraged his listeners to file fraudulent documents at their local unemployment office to show an increase in the unemployed.. Rush he is the man.

A caller called the show and put forth the idea that righties who are retired, students, or not employed but don’t necessarily have a need to be, should go to the nearest unemployment office and “register as unemployed” to help skew the unemployment numbers in this country — to make President Obama look like an economic failure.. it all harkens back to when Obama was elected, Rush openly proclaimed that he wished Obama would fail as president.

One might think that with the Right so confident that they're gonna thrash Obama at the polls on Election Day, fraud would be unnecessary. That Rush would have just laughed it off and assured the caller that Obama is toast anyway, so why risk federal prosecution?

So you weren't responding to drewski's post, nor were you responding to the thread content. if anybody else did that, you'd label it a deflection. What's it called when you do it, 13?

right, it's Reid and Pelosi who caused the stock market decline!

Deficit and government spending have been a problem for quite some time -- well before last year.

glad to see you're (supposedly) waking up to it.

Obama's not my hero. You should stop making things up.

edit: and btw, no, "making things up" isn't the same as "lying." Look up the definition of lying. When you appear to be lying, I'll state that.

Drew was touting the stock market as improving the wealth of the middle class through the 401k as offsetting the negative effect of exploding gas prices and unemployment.

I brought up the stock market stagnation over the past 5 years as not supporting his proposition.

I frwo tired of you game playing in leiu of having any point to make and will not engage with you furthur.

Well you weren't here of course in 2006 when I said the pubs deserved to lose congress dur to their excessive spending. Of course there certainly is a vast difference between a 160B deficit and deficits that are > 1,000B +.

I was just respond to the way you howl like a stuck pig when someone brings up negative factsabout the Obamas or any other dems .

Since you generally don't express opinions of your own it was a conclusion I had reached. If you object then I won't make any connection between you r responses and your opinions.

So by the same token please don't charactize me as a conservative. :D

Because, in your world, only the 1% have 401K's.

All Drewski said: "The stock market is a play ground of the 1%?

I know many people, who are not in the 1%, who partake in the Stock Market, me being one.

Plus, wouldn't anyone with a 401(k) find the stock market important?

    Just looking for clarification"

What proposition was that you supposedly were undermining? What was he touting again?

You deflected, you just can't simply admit it.

Yeah, that's not English. But I'm guessing your promise here will be empty.

So you woke up to our spending problem in 2006?

You're really on top of that one, 13.

    Stuck pigs howl?

Of course, you'e just making more things up. The only question now is whether you're delving into the realm of lying, since you're continuing on this path and exacerbating it. So maybe you should back up your claims here, 13.

You're now contradicting yourself, but it's no surprise that you automatically assume that somebody who finds the "points" you and harryboy make to be laughable must be a liberal.

Actually, many other terms would leap to mind first, but how would you prefer to be characterized?

Do you have any views that don't fall in with mainstream conservative thinking? (because I have plenty that don't fall in with liberal views)
