Necessary steps that will get the economy rolling and restore American prosperity.

Adopt the Ryan budget: have a plan with teal reform to deal without spending problems

Go a step further eliminate duplicate programs close unnecessary agencies, look up how many "jobs" programs we have it will blow your mind. I'd start with the Dept of Ed which brings nothing to the table. I would also eliminate the Post Office & Amtrak, obsolete depts whose time has come and gone.

Put a Flat Tax in place, with only an individual exemption (children same as parents) of say 15k per person. Rate of 17%. End the double taxation of corporate profits either tax corporate profits of tax capital gains (again at the 17% rate) for public companies. Government revenue would increase dramatically if this happens

Get the EPA out of the CO2 regulating and taxing business. CO2 is plant food not a pollutant. This is connected to the discredited AGW theory.

Become Energy independent within and create hundred of thousands of jobs in the process. Keep our $$$$ out of the hands of OPEC.

This is a terrific update on the situation about US Energy resources:

BARBER: Energy independence, jobs within reach - Washington Times

Supporting Data at the link. This doesn't take nuclear energy into account (that will be dead for another 20 years due to Fukishima)

Affordable energy is the basis for our wealth. Making ourselves poor deliberately is criminal.

Do you believe that, if more oil is pumped in the USA that the USA keeps the oil?????

Do you not believe that the oil pumped here merely goes onto the international spot market????

Do you propose we nationalize all the oil companies drilling in the US and only allow that oil to be used in the US?????

I know! We pump all of our oil out of the ground, sell it to the Chinese and buy wind turbines and solar panels from them. Hell, why don't we just do a straight swap?

Coming into this thread, I didn't think it would be possible to disagree with every single proposition you were to make. But there you have it. The intellectual dishonesty is breathtaking. "Discredited AGW theory" -- really?

If you agreed with anything I said I would be worried.

Why would you call me dishonest?

Because I don't agree with you?

    How ignorant and arrogant.

    You still don't understand.

The oil doesn't belong to America just because it is pumped here. It just goes onto the international spot market. Do you think the oil companies would keep the oil in America and not put it on the world market?????

The only way to make it that way would be for the government to nationalize the production of oil.

I could be wrong, but if I remember it right, I thought part of the language surrounding the Alaska Pipeline stated that the oil drilled there, could not be exported.

But like cash, isn't oil essentially fungible?

Unless it's the only oil a company produces, how could such a regulation actually be enforced?

We have quite a few wind turbines close to our home, have never seen one freeze.. last winter was very icy and cold, they kept on turning.

Sweden is building 2000 Turbines.. they are also building them in the Yukon Territory and BC..

They just built three on Toksook Bay on the Bering Sea in Alaska even Sarah set a goal of 50% of Alaskan Energy to come from renewable sources by 2025..

Cmon shmessy, Supply Demand Cost Relationship..

    Connect the dots.

We could be a net exporter of energy not an importer.

Jobs extracting and refining the energy products?

Oil drilling personnel are from all over the world.

Just like personnel on a cruise ship.

You'd be doing Malaysians and Phillipinos a great jobs program.

Refining is a different story, but refineries take oil delivered from anywhere.

If it's just about jobs, jobs, jobs, why not just start another war????

All power transmission sources have down time, nuclear power plants need to refuel.. coal plants need periodic maintainence.. gas plants need to be shut down periodically for maintainence.

There are shortcomings, but good science and technology can overcome them... windpower is an excellent source of energy and can lead to job development. They are part of a grid, which includes a variety of energy sources.
