Yeah, I felt the same way about Dukes but he seems to have changed his tune recently. A week ago he took a shot at the Pats haters when he wrote "So I ask you, is Belichick the NFL’s Zen Master or are you still holding onto the joke that was Spygate?" Perhaps his diet now includes the minimum daily requirement of BB Kool Aid.

Regarding what the top five stories will be in 2009, I can't imagine that Romo will top the list. Based on past history it's got to be a repeat of The Brett Favre Show. Between Favre, Bus Cook and espn, I'd really be surprised if this dead horse isn't beaten yet again.

The return of Brady will be talked about quite a bit between now and the beginning of the season by opposing fans that will declare his career over before he takes a single snap. My guess is that after the Pats beat the Bills in week one that talk will quickly die down. The haters that want Brady and the Pats to fail will keep quiet as long as the Pats are winning (except for the conspiracy theorists that will crawl out to say the refs favor the Pats because the NFL wants Brady to succeed.)

Of course an early season limp, or interception in a loss, and the NFL microscope leaves the NFC North and descends upon Foxboro.

Dukes was interviewing him and busting his balls and trying his damndest to get Matt to gripe about his contract situation. That was prior to the trade. Dukes came across like a real bully. Matt didn't take the bait.

Very good summation. I think you really covered everything. Every hiccup by Brady this year will be scrutinized. Every close call in the Pats' favor will be talked about. Every loss will be magnified. Every win will be relegated to some form of Spygate shenanigans (if the Pats even sniff an undefeated season).

Jaime Dukes is about as valuable as an analyst as Deion Sanders.

Those are, however, intriguing topics for the coming season. I can't believe that actually gave him a column, though.

Do you guys envision Tom coming back and hitting the ground running right where he left off in 2007; or do you at least fear a set back at least a little bit? I don't know what to expect. You really can never tell with those knee injuries.

Yeah I hate it when people do the job they are paid to do too.
  12. I think he might be rusty at the start. I don't expect him to destroy secondaries as he did in '07. After their O-line got whipped by the Giants D-line in the '08 super bowl, I thought the Pats would try to be more of a balanced offense to reduce the exposure of Brady. However, I was wrong, as they tried to spread the field as usual against KC. With that said, I expect the Pats to open up the season as more of a running team until Brady feels comfortable enough to run their similar offense in '07.

    Did you see the interview?

I guess no one else who I've ever seen interview Cassel did their job because they weren't nearly as argumentative, self-aggrandizing and rude as Dukes was. Even Dukes' co-host was giving him a hard time for how over the top he was.

    So did you see it?

Edit: if you didn't see it, maybe Hector caught it and can fill you in.

a couple of months ago i expected him to start of kinda like manning....

has to get used to it, and start slowly, returning to his former self halfway through season....

after reading some more though, and realizing that hes so far ahead of where doctors thought he would be...and that hes Brady, im starting to think that he just may come back same as he left....

if he doesnt i wont hold it against him...but im starting to think that he comes back like Old Brady

I'm hoping he can shake off most of the rust during TC and preseason. I'm expecting a more balanced offensive attack this year anyway, though, with alot of runs and short passes.

I saw it. I was very impressed with how Cassel handled himself. Its one of many interviews that made me really respect the kid.

His job is to facilitate interesting TV. Goading Cassel into talking about his contract situation and the like is something he SHOULD be doing.

I don't know why you guys get all butthurt over this sorta thing. Cassel probably wasn't that traumatized and if he was I'm sure he cried himself to sleep on the barely legal breasts of a pair of blonde triplets and dried his eyes with some benjamins.

A pair of triplets? Six chicks? I don't know if his wife would like that...

I find Dukes amusing, personally. For football analysis he stinks, but for interesting TV and being Eisen's whooping boy, Dukes is alright in my books.
