I would hope she isn't. I know this won't be a popular opinion, but there should be no way in hell that a woman should be allowed in the NFL.

Why? If she can kick and if she can take hit should be the only criteria (and lets face not all male kickers can take the hit).

If she is better kicker than the 32nd best kicker in the league than she belongs.

My first thought was is she better than Ghost?

I think that Serena Williams should try her luck at playing safety too. Girl will bust you up.

If there aren't at least 32 male kickers in the world better than this woman, the apocalypse is near. But I do give her credit for finding a clever way to bring attention to her new enterprise.

Good for her, but realistically she'll never make it. You have to be a freak athlete to play in the NFL. A woman in top physical condition will not be more athletic than a man in top physical condition.

Except as a kicker. Look at the size and condition of some NFL kickers and you get what I mean.

Even if she was good enough, it would be too much of a media distraction to have her.

Haven't we already lowered the standards in enough American institutions to put women on "equal" footing with men? The military, the fire department, and be list goes on. Why do they need to play in the NFL too. It's a physiological fact that men, at their peak, are bigger, faster, and stronger than a woman at her peak. These are world class professional athletes on that field whose bodies are built to take that kind of punishment. That being said, how long before a field goal is missed or blocked, there is a return, and the return man, seeing a woman in his path that wants to be on equal footing as him, runs her over like he would a man? Society would cringe watching that, it would be all over the news, and pretty soon networks like ESPN will begin discussing whether or not rules changes should be made to protect the kicker in the wake of this incident.

Further, women are involved in sports such as soccer, basketball, and hockey to name a few. The difference is that they have their own leagues and don't play with the men. I'm perfectly fine with that. I would never watch it, but some people would. Why does the NFL need to be any different? And this isn't touching the locker room subject, which is completely ridiculous in and of itself.

I figured someone would throw this pathetic red herring out there in an attempt to make me look like a chauvinist. I always thought you were better than that, though. I'll dismiss it as The Dump (political forum) in you talking

I never ever want to see a woman playing in the NFL under any circumstance, but I have always suspected that they would be awesome punters. If they work out and get all strong but maintain their flexibility the sky would literally be the limit for how far they could punt.

That poses quite a dilemma -- the NFL, the Rockettes, Vegas showgirl or women's MMA?

This is a rather peculiar response, because while I don't really have any strong feelings on this issue either way, it certainly wasn't a dig at you. Sorry if it came off that way.

Men and women are different. This isn't really debatable.

Men are bigger, faster and stronger, on average, than women. This isn't really debatable.

The difference between men and women generally increases when you look at the elite, rather than decreases. There are numerous studies about this.

It's far better to acknowledge these differences, and to deal smartly with the repercussions of such differences, than it is to pretend that they don't exist because of some idiotic myth of equality.

No problem with you saying that there is no way a woman would be good enough to play in the NFL based on body type and physical makeup but we are talking about a kicker and sure strength and power are a factor but it is not a postion purely about brute strength.

In no way shape or form should the rules be changed to accomadate woman in football and if there was one playing she would be subject to being run over by men and she would get no sympathy from me nor should it make for any bigger of story than any other big hit.

Women do have their own leagues but it is the best women in the world and I see no problem with it if they want to play here or if they want to see how they could compete on the biggest stage with the best athletes in their sport.

Also she would not be the first Women in pro sports there have been a few before her most notably the goalie on the Lightning.

Oh the horror a lady in pro hockey taking slap shots from all the men  and could you believe it they didn't even put restrictions on how hard you could shoot at her.

Lastly I think your statement about women in the rest of the work place absolutely was chauvinistic. You act like every male firemen and police officer is in there best peak shape like a pro athlete at the top of their game when the fact is men are probably more likely to be out of shape in these fields than the women who actually persue them as they are constanly being compared to the men.
