MIAMI (AP) -- Free-agent left tackle L.J. Shelton signed a four-year contract Monday with the Miami Dolphins, who also added two potential starters on defense.

Linebacker Sedrick Hodge and cornerback Andre Goodman also agreed to multiyear deals. They're expected to contend for starting jobs that became vacant when Miami released veterans Junior Seau and Sam Madison.

The 6-foot-6, 345-pound Shelton started all 16 games last season for Cleveland. He spent his first six NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, who took him with the 21st overall pick in the first round in 1999.

Hodge, who played for New Orleans the past five seasons, agreed to a two-year deal worth $2 million with up to $1 million in incentives, said his agent, Brian Mackler. Goodman, who spent his first four seasons with Detroit, agreed to a three-year, $5 million deal with a potential $2.5 million in incentives, Mackler said.

Goodman last year started eight games and had three interceptions, both career highs.
