PHEW!!!... I must have done 20 mock's already...so enough already. I kept tossing them because they all were a Little off the wall. So this mock, full of many athletic guys that have upside and are hungry....very,very hungry.

I wasn't thinking of Round-Need when making any of the picks. Need in terms of we need a rd1 RB or CB...nope I picked who would be good value for each round with an eye to the future for all of them. Some of them may be reaches but it's the system that's important.
Whoever plays this year...it will be a bonus.

Okay...I can take the heat...START YOUR ENGINES.

I really expect Belichick to trade 3a for a #2 next year.
If he does then 4b becomes...Martin Nance WR Miami(Ohio)

1 - Ernie Sims LB
Sims becomes a situational Pass Rusher this year
While he is prepped to become SS backup/starter in 2007.

2 - Jonathan Joesph CB / Richard Marshall CB.
Belichick is going CB here...I have no doubt.
He will make a move-up for Joseph if he slides to rd.2
If Joesph is taken in rd.1 expect BB to do what it takes to get Marshall.

3a - (see above) If he doesn't trade it then:
Derek Hagan WR or Jason Avant WR...Hagan 1st if both there.

3b - Jerrius Norwood RB
Belichick did his homework early on Jerrius...he'll be a Patriot
groomed to replace Faulk initially. Many are looking at the big names
for RB...but no way Belichick risks losing Dillon's influence on the team.
The big guy will come next year, especially if BB has 2-#2's on his plate.

4a - Clint Ingram OLB...Clint gets groomed at ILB for the Patriots.
Clint will become a good run stopper and cover man for the Patriots.
ILB's who can cover are a must on Belichick's defense.
If you can't cover and get sideline to sideline you are useless.

4b - Joe Toledo - OT...Joe is a slight project but will keep Neal/Kaczur
on their toes. Also provides depth at RT if Kaczur goes to LT due to
Injury of Light again.

5 - Terna Nanda - OLB...All purpose defensive player for the Patriots.
Nanda can rush the QB, backup at ILB if he can bulk-up.
Will be a great ST for a rookie at the least in 2006...strong as a bull.

6a - Belichick will try to grab a #5 next year for this pick.
If not...he takes: Chris Kuper OG.
Belichick loves OL depth...Kuper will be a PS for 06'.
He will be developed to play all OL positions as a backup for yr-2.
He will compete for more time at his best position in yr - 3.
Kuper has enough athleticism to be a steal in round-6 down the line.

6b - Barrick Nealy - QB...This kid is an athlete ala Randle-El.
He'l start off as a WR prospect or a PS-QB-too good to leave to UDFA.

6c - Anthony Mix - WR...Mix is a Bull with no fear ..6'4"-235-4.49 (40)
Where will he play? But I expect Belichick to go all athletic in 6/7.
Why not???

7 - Nick Turnbull - CB/FS...Where will he play? Another Athlete.
Belichick may grab one of the top kickers here.
Scifres / Huston / Gostkowski / Hughes...in that order of who is left.

Also UDFA...BENJAMIN JONES K...could be better than the top 4.
He was one of the very best as a junior but groin problems hurt him.
I figure Belichick will grab 3 kickers.
1-Europe...someone he thinks will be our kicker.
2-Draft Pick...camp competition.
3-UDFA...camp competition.

1 - Ernie Sims LB
Sims becomes a situational Pass Rusher this year
While he is prepped to become SS backup/starter in 2007. Good Ganja Mahn!

2 - Jonathan Joesph CB / Richard Marshall CB.

3a - (see above) If he doesn't trade it then:
Derek Hagan WR or Jason Avant WR...Hagan 1st if both there. Hass, Marshall, Jennings, Stoval - much better choices.

3b - Jerrius Norwood RB
Belichick did his homework early on Jerrius...he'll be a Patriot
groomed to replace Faulk initially. Many are looking at the big names

4b - Joe Toledo - OT...Joe is a slight project but will keep Neal/Kaczur

Injury of Light again. 330 lbs, thats a project.

5 - Terna Nanda - OLB...All purpose defensive player for the Patriots.
Nanda can rush the QB, backup at ILB if he can bulk-up.
Will be a great ST for a rookie at the least in 2006...strong as a bull. Nice kid for STs, but he's likely to be long gone here.

6b - Barrick Nealy - QB...This kid is an athlete ala Randle-El.
He'l start off as a WR prospect or a PS-QB-too good to leave to UDFA. Harumph

6c - Anthony Mix - WR...Mix is a Bull with no fear ..6'4"-235-4.49 (40)
Where will he play? But I expect Belichick to go all athletic in 6/7.
Why not??? Think STs and you sell me on an athlete, but a TE in a WR body, not athletic enough.

7 - Nick Turnbull - CB/FS...Where will he play? Another Athlete.
Belichick may grab one of the top kickers here.
Scifres / Huston / Gostkowski / Hughes...in that order of who is left.

H'mm - draft targets are 3 DBs (counting Sims), 2 small LBs, 1 RB, 1 OT, 1 QB, 1 WR, 2 extra picks in 2007? Unconventional, but what else could we have expected! :D

I don't think I've ever looked at a 7 round mock an disagreed with every pick.

Nut, you just set a record.:rocker:

i wouldn't mind norwood with 3B and a wideout at 3A

toledo might make a good conversion to guard at the pro level, but not in a zone blocking scheme

regarding sims: i seem to recall a player personnel person (Dr. Z interviewee???) thinking that everybody in this year's draft class had weaknessed in their game....but implied that sims had none...he was just small....but he was a "football player"....i may have dreamt this....but if it's true, i wouldn't be surprised if we drafted him with some caulkameymeee plan in the works.....running back perhaps???? who knows.

And so you shall!

Great player, but character issues. I think this pick would shock me, both because he figures to play a low-priority position (SS), and those aforementioned issues. Multiple counts of assault/domestic violence, IIRC.

2 -Jonathan Joesph CB / Richard Marshall CB.

I'm happy with this run. I really like the Ingram pick. I also see him as a likely convert to 3-4 ILB.

If Toledo falls this far, great. I find it highly unlikely. Nande is a freak, but try as I might (and I have tried, I can't see where he'd play in our defense. He's an athlete without a position.

6a - Belichick will try to grab a #5 next year for this pick.

OK.

6b - Barrick Nealy - QB...This kid is an athlete ala Randle-El.
He'l start off as a WR prospect or a PS-QB-too good to leave to UDFA.

Doesn't seem very BB-like to draft an athletic quarterback who's a marginal quarterback. It would be one think to draft a guy like Hagans or your comparison, Randle-El, who could contribute at WR and play a role as emergency QB, but a guy who's a bigtime project at both positions is unlikely. He's just eating up roster space. I'd really like QB Kellen Clemens in this spot.

6c - Anthony Mix - WR...Mix is a Bull with no fear ..6'4"-235-4.49 (40)

Fine with the rest of it. Good effort, always appreciated.

OK. I only count 10 players. Who is the 11th pick.

I am ok with the 1st 4 picks. I think that Blackmon is stretch at that point. The guy showed that he really doesn't have a position. Not a goor WR. Not a good CB.

I don't like the pick of Scifres at that point. He's too erratic. Huston or Gostkowski are better picks in my opinion. I really like the strength of Hustons leg. Guy had 49 TBs of out 70 kicks. That is HUGE.

For late round TEs, I think that Tony Scheffler and Owen Daniels might be better picks, though Scheffler would have to become Woiciks and Don Davis' best friend in the weight room to develop his muscle tone.

OK I left out Pick #206 Dewayne Slay Ss Tex tech- Will not be a SS in the NFL. Wiil be a ST demon for the first year or two while he converts to ILB.

You may be right, Huston could be a better pick as kicker. Right now Scifres is rated just a little higher and has the biggest leg. But it doesn't count unless you can spilt the uprights.

Blackmon is worth a shot at a number 5 or 6 pick. He was trying to do too much last year and hurt himself doing so.

Slay is one nasty individual and he brings an attitude that I just love. If we drafted him to be a ST demon while we figure out where he best fits, I'd be very happy with that.
