Not sure if anyone else gets ESPN: The Mag... But they had an absolutely awesome article about Belichick and his tree in their Football Preview Edition this week.

One of the things that we've heard bits and pieces about is how Bill tries to mitigate risks and tries to get his coaches and players to understand that.

They had a blurb from Heath Evans who was telling about a play that happened against Buffalo a couple years ago.

Heath Evans said:
"In a huddle against the Bills two years ago, Kevin Faulk looked at his teammates and said ,"Its thrid and three. They've got a 20% chance of blitzing the mike, so be ready." And Buffalo did.

Its a great article and provides some more insight on how Belichick has changed over the years, how he prepares, and how those preparations help the players on the field..

I haven't read the article yet but there was a real cool picture in it too. BBs face drawn in instead of Elvis in the logo.

Have to wait until it shows up in the Dr's office of Barber, then it will disappear... anyways here is an interesting quote from what they provide on line..' love this stuff we all know, and when the ass clown coaches of the world open their mouth.. this makes me realize why this org is what it is.

To work for Belichick, you just have to be smart enough to excel outside football -- and obsessed with applying that intelligence to the sport. You have to be self-motivated and not stuck in your ways. And above all, you must be grateful for the opportunity, despite the tiny salary. "Like Bill when he was their age," says former Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel
.

Bucky - Thanks for posting that link.

Yeah thanks Bucky but Steves the real Cap

ESPN Magazaine Article on BB

Not sure if this has been posted yet as I know it is an insider article, but this article has some really great insite behind the scenes of the Patriots locker room.

Seth Wickersham's September 7 ESPN The Magazine profile of Bill Belichick and his coaching tree (09/07/09) - ESPN

The players feel it too. When not with his coaches, Belichick is usually in front of the team in a dark film room, pausing, rewinding, questioning, "mother-f -- ing us," as Brady says. These meetings can last hours. The call is Ride 130 Cross Stalk. Who's the mike linebacker? Where did the offensive coordinator go to college? It's third and three at our 27: What does the defense have a 20% chance of doing? "Your gut is in knots," says former Patriots fullback Heath Evans, now with the Saints. But the fear works. In a huddle against the Bills two years ago, running back Kevin Faulk looked at his teammates and said, "It's third and three. They've got a 20% chance of blitzing the mike, so be ready." Buffalo did. He was.

Is there an ESPN insider member who would be willing to copy and past several additional (longer) blurbs, so the rest of us hungry for any insights to BB pukes can see some more.
