Yea i dont understand how Hobbs isnt considered fast. Gay isnt exactly a turtle either. Sure Rodney might have lost a step but thats really about it.

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

I guess just because they know a guy's name makes him speedy. Hobbs is much faster than Samuel (quick is hard to quantify) and Geno probably as well. Who knows about Gay, who has been really good so far.

Did you see Hobbs on Willie Andrews' kickoff return...he caught up to Willie with ease.

Didn't one of them set the record for the longest KO TD in the history of the game?

Man, imagine what he could do if he had speed.

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

Last time I checked, the Pats defense was never particularly fast. We won Super Bowls with Ty Law, Otis Smith, and Tyrone Poole. None of those guys are fast CBs. Tebucky Jones and Lawyer Milloy aren't what you would consider fast safeties.

The Pats' defense is based on aggressive and smart play, not speed. You don't need to be fast in the secondary if they play smart and have good pressure up front. Look at Junior Seau. He has lost a step or three, but he has been heads up and making a lot of big plays.

This is just SVN trying to drum up support for the notion that the sky is falling with the defense and undercutting himself by quoting someone who clearly hasn't watched the defense.

He looked plenty fast when he was setting the NFL record for the longest ever kickoff return.

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

ESPN is fraudulent in their research once again!

Here are the combine numbers and/or pro day results for some of the Patriots defensive backs:

    Eugene Wilson
Combine 40 yard dash: 4.48 sec

    Asante Samuel
Combine 40 yard dash: 4.49 sec

    Randall Gay
Pro Day 40 yard dash: 4.38 sec

    Ellis Hobbs
Combine 40 yard dash: 4.45 sec
Pro Day 40 yard dash: 4.38 sec

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

Tebucky Jones by the way was a blazer. 4.45 for a 225 pound guy is fast. Tebucky was a physical freak of nature, but maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

Given that the quote you put in about the defense didn't actually analyze anything in any way resembling reality (As ATippett56's post shows every bit as much as game film does), I'll simply point out that you're full of beans about this.

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

Gay is far from the turtle ... he may be Moss-Fast.

I think Rodney's lack of speed may influence a lot of people, but really, come on, Gay and Hobbs have wheels. I'm not sure about Wilson.

Agreed! If half the posters on this message board did some research via the internet, we can intellectually dispute false claims by the trolls who visit here as well as delinquent sports reporters such as the worthless Skippy Bayless.

    Re: ESPN : Last Call

i didnt put in the quote ..it was in the article. People posts tons of quotes saying "x person is an idiot" . doesnt mean they are analyzing it. anyway's relax.. believe what you want to believe , iam not drumming up support for anything .
