Elvis Dumervil of Denver is 26, coming off an amazing year in the 3-4, and is a RFA. Considering that we're already talking about spending a 1-pick on an OLB who will be a questionmark to see if he can play in the NFL, is it worth throwing in a 3-pick and going for someone in his prime we know is good? Would it be worth it if we know we're not getting Peppers? Just curious what others think.

Whilst Dumervil had terrific pass rushing figures, he is an utter liability against the run.

    A big no-no.

pats dont have a 3rd so they cant do it, plus dumervil's contract in a year or 2 will be bigger then a draft picks

I agree, sign someone on FA with some ability to pass rush, draft a kid, develop him, and in a year or two start him and watch him flourish. Easier said than done, but we wont go broke

The rule states if you don't have it yuo give up one from the round before it so you can still do it.

But more logically you just trade your 2 for a 3 and say a 5th or whatever evens out the deal.

Dumervil's tiny, and gets smoked against the run. That said, he's good enough at what he does well that I'd love to see him in a Pats uniform anyways. I just don't see any way that that would happen.

I'd rather see BB draft Eric Norwood (South Carolina), cheaper (most likely a 3rd round pick), stud pass rusher, bulk him back up a bit and teach him to be the next Tedi Bruschi playing ILB on rushing downs and either blitzing him from inside or sliding him to the edge as a pass rusher - a coverage LB he ain't.

are you sure, remember in 2003 didnt that pats get a 3rd or 2nd round pick from the redskins for a 4th or 5th pick because they needed a certain round pick for laverneus coles.
