This is a pretty interesting article by Don Banks, in which he offer his 2005 Draft Redux. The Patriots did a hell of a job in picking Hobbs in the third round. He also like Logan Mankins right where the Patriots picked him.

Can anyone name any other rookie corners that matched Ellis Hobbs production this year. I can only think of Darrent Williams from Denver who was a second round pick.

They're just football players now. Doesn't matter where you
were selected in the draft. I will say he looks like a starting cb
in the nfl. I guess that equals 1st round value to answer your
question. Our draft is looking pretty damn impressive. We almost
had a meltdown draft day on this board. Some good football
players picked that day; Mankins,Hobbs,Kaczur,Sanders and
maybe even Matt Cassell. Plus, we have 3 extra picks in the
upcoming draft because of trades made that day. 3 from Balt.
4 from Detroit. 5 from Oakland. All 3 of those teams had lousy
years. Picks will be high in each round even making them move
valuable. I'm estatic Scott Pioli decided to stay with the Pats.
With him and BB shopping for our groceries. We're going to
have a good team as long as we have them and Mr. Brady.

We'll need to use them well. This year we have only Neal and Givens as tough to lose UFAs but the two years after that we have a lot of big boys who'll be looking for big deals. We can't pay them all - it's the price of sucess and we'll have to draft well to replace them.

Regarding Hobbs we got him, Baltimore's #3 this year and Cassel for our #2 (and I think a #7) - that's looking REALLY good right now.
