Good stuff. 2 comments of particular interest from the practice reviews:

- WR Freddie Barnes: "Bowling Green wide receiver Freddie Barnes was one of the stars of the day. He snatched several balls out of the air, adjusting to passes thrown high, low and wide. Toledo strong safety Barry Church found out what it would be like to cover an NFL receiver when Barnes gave him a nice head fake while running down the seam, stopping Church in his tracks and blowing by him. Though Barnes did drop one or two when allowing the ball to get too far into his chest and could be faster out of his breaks, overall he was clearly the best receiver on either squad."

- DE Greg Hardy: "The most unlikely participant in this week's game is Ole Miss defensive end Greg Hardy. Most expected him to be in Mobile for the Senior Bowl next week, but injuries and inconsistent effort have caused his stock to drop. He showed flashes of talent Monday, jumping inside off the snap to get across the face of the tackle and disrupt a run play to the opposite side. But Quarless locked him up on the edge a couple of times, even though Hardy has a 25-pound weight advantage. Those are the sort of matchups the SEC star needs to win if he wants to get into the draft's second round."

yea i watched the bowl game fredie barnes was in and i fell in love with him
IIRC he had something like 20 catches and 3 TDs i hope the pats draft him but i know that would be too much to ask for

Interesting that Hardy weighed in at 279lbs, and even more interesting is that Wes Bunting says "he's carried it well".

And that TE Villaneuva sounds very intriguing.

Possible developmental guy in Kevin Haslam? 6'5", 305lbs, played swing at Rutgers.

He was also on 6' 3.7", somewhat shorter than previously listed. Sounds more like a 4-3 DE right now, but we'll see.

The DE/OLB tweeners all seem a little small:

- O'Brien Schofield, Wisconsin - 6'2", 242#
- Lindsey Witten, UConn - 6'4", 248#
- Willie Young, North Carolina - 6'4", 251"

Wes Bunting from National Football Post gave two "thumbs down" to Young and Witten based on today's practice: "Two defensive linemen who did not start the week with favorable impressions were North Carolina State’s Willie Young and Connecticut’s Lindsey Witten. Both are tall, long-armed defensive ends who definitely pass the eyeball test walking on the field. But neither is a natural bender, and both struggle to play with leverage and power on contact. Plus, both players are thin in their lower halves and didn’t exhibit the type of athleticism needed to make up for their lack of power/technique."

Wes is just getting yesterday's notes out a day late...

Someone else wrote that Witten was all over the defensive backfield.

Interesting.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.
