Dumb cliches football fans use

I'll start it off with:
"Our players are hungry this year."
He gives a 110% How is it possible to give more than a 100%?

They're 10-0, but they haven't won impressively all year.

Huh?

"The better team won today."
"They just ran out of time."
"He threw his teammates under the bus."
any phrase involving the word -Controversy-
"They won because they established the passing/running game early."
"This is the part of the game where you really need some big plays."
any phrase that uses the word -Literally-
"It's like a MASH unit out there."

"This team plays FOOTBALL! They can run the ball and stop the run" Football hasn't been that simple minded in decades. (Vikings, Steelers, Broncos, Falcans. All were in top half the NFL in both...and sucked last year)

"Whoever wins the turnover battle will win the game." For the season: Saints -4 and Seahawks -8. Both were above .500 and considered good teams.

"They beat themselves." Means "I will not believe that team beat my team."

"That coach is a real Drill Sergeant." Means "He yells a lot"
If you were a MILLIONAIRE would you respond to that?

"take it one play at a time"

"we just have to make more plays than the other team"

Any sentence that contains the phrase, "MY TEAM".
also:
"His head wasn't in the game."
and:
"The coach is in his head."

He's just a product of the "system".

Any statement using the expression "scary good".

any statement comparing football to "war" or "battle"... IMHO, it cheapens what real warriors are doing every day for our country and society. Let's face it, football is "tough" game, but no one is getting shot out there.

That one just drives me batty.

I absolutely HATE it when they use other sports terms in football:

"Brady can throw the homerun ball."

"That play was a slam-dunk."

I hate it when they say the (Safety/Corner) played a great Center field. BAH! Stick to football.

Never been a fan of, "the team is better than the records indicate"

Player: "We'll have to bring our 'A' game to win because they will bring their 'A' game."

Analyst: "They needed to bring their 'A' game today and they didn't."

Fan "We played our 'A' game."

I'll start it off with:
"Our players are hungry this year."

"he let that one get away from him" On a Brady miss fire, or: " He Has a big arm, but he just can't throw the DEEP Ball"

"He is patiently waiting for the hole to open up" ...Busted play, RB is dancing around too much in the backfield wondering "how do I run outta this one"

"we just gotta' take it one game at a time..." Come on, we don't want to say yeah! lets roll on to the playoffs now! pencil us in...

"You just did (insert remerkable play/game winner here) How Do You Feel about it?"...another ungiffted anouncer trying to get the player to say anything besides hi mom, and we did it!

"You haven't beat these guys on thier turf all season, so how is it to get them in your house"...I guess this means that, thank the allmighty you guys play at home because you suck on the road

ETC...

PD.

Two words: BODY LANGUAGE !!!!

Another one I hate:

After a victory: "I'd just like to thank God!"

As if God (if he/she/it exists) liked one team more than the other. So arrogant.

"We need to improve in all three phases of the game."
"I'm sure he'd like to have that one back."
"I'll talk about the players that are here."
"Some things were good, some were not so good."
"One game at a time."
"The only future I'm thinking about is this Sunday."
"It is what it is."

Oh, that's right. Those are the cliches we LIKE to hear. ;)

A player fumbles a critical ball and effectively loses the game for his team.

Question by a reporter later: "How do you feel?"

Two words: BODY LANGUAGE !!!!

Abso f***ing lutely. How can you read someone's body language when they are miles away, dressed in pads and wearing a helmet?

I can't think of any good cliches.

At the end of the day, though, Football is a game of two halves. You have to get it done on the field (No sh*t? I thought games were won on video. I am soooo stupid) and have to take it one day at a time. You need to make sure you don't get caught early doors (the last one is a UK soccer phrase. 'Nuff said).

"This is a buisness trip" (actually, I still like this one)
"They must have luck on their side"
"The ball bounced their way"
"Why is parking 50 bucks?"
"7 bucks for a beer? I could by a rack for that!"

He gives a 110% How is it possible to give more than a 100%?

Yeah, that gets on my nerves also. Reminds of the scene in Spinal Taps when the guy talks about having had the volume on his amp specially configured to go to 11. In sports parlance, however, that's most likely an admission that he's been juicing. But I digress.....

One that bugs me most:

"We were the better team but we just beat ourselves."
