I find draft grades right after a draft to make no sense. Who knows what will happen. So I suggest we greade the team on 2005, where players have had 3 years:
1 32(32) Logan Mankins OG FRESNO STATE
3 20(84) Ellis Hobbs DB IOWA STATE
3 36(100) Nick Kaczur OT TOLEDO
4 32(133) James Sanders DB FRESNO STATE
5 34(170) Ryan Claridge LB NEVADA LAS VEGAS
7 16(230) Matt Cassel QB USC
7 41(255) Andy Stokes TE WILLIAM PENN (IOWA)
Looks like we got 3-4 starters with one pro bowler. Hard not to give at least a B+ if not higher (I'd go A if there was an impact player there), especially considering that unlike teams like San Diego, NE was last or late in every round. I did not factor in stockpiling drafts for the next year or players instead of draft picks (Moss, Welker situation).
Baltimore's draft could have been excellent ... if they had kept Derek Anderson.
FOR COMPARISON:
I left out Bills and Jets because they had no #1
MIAMI:
1 2(2) Ronnie Brown RB AUBURN
