That's right, give this thread 1 star because it goes against your insane reality, and while you're at it close your eyes, put your fingers in your eyes and yell 'lalalalalalala'

Why do you keep suggesting we aren't putting our money where our mouth is ? Do you visit our bank accounts ?

I'm sad to say I am 100% invested right now; but it's too late to take it out and, unlike you, I am confident long term.

no sense in taking money out of my 403b.

go down with the ship and hope for the best.

if the stock market crashes society is going to slow down pretty quickly IMO as people panic.

the question is when will people panic? when it's at 8000? 7000?

If the Dow continues to decline like it has this week, in a matter of weeks our currency will be worthless and our economy will cease to exist.

If it declines another 1,000 points by Mon/Tues, it could lead to a run on banks no matter what the gov't says they're guaranteeing. If that happens, it could be the end and lead to world-wide collapse. There is an issue of lack of trust everywhere you look.

Let's just pray it stops before it's too late.

I wish they'd close the stock markets for 2 weeks while they do whatever it is they have to do and restore some confidence.

you are absoultely correct. we should be stocking up on supplies while we can. have a couple of gas cans filled. have plenty of food. have spare cash on hand at your house before the atm dries up

and don't you think it is mighty suspicious that Bush's term is coming to an end. panic has been created. will we see martial law next?

The ONLY thing that WILL work is to restore TRUST to the system and the only way that can be done is by forcing each and every one of these companies to pull their ‘assets’ out of hiding. No more phantom accounting. No more legalized fraud! It must be done now, within 24-hours or the United States will follow Iceland and worse. Worse because we are the world’s reserve currency and we will literally pull down each and every country on the planet. Worse yet, is for those of us who are Americans, WE WILL LOSE OUR COUNTRY ENTIRELY!

I honestly don't think we're going to come to a "FromtheWilderness" total collapse/anarchy scenario Wes. Do you believe that?

    Teetering over the abyss? Yup.

all it will take is for OPEC nations to change the pricing of barrels of oil from the dollar to the Euro... that is coming... then watch what happens to the U.S. dollar....

Worst administration in U.S. history. Period.

    Thanks so much!!

I don't think there will be anarchy. you will see martial law with curfews.

but i do think you will see a pre-blizzard mentality of stocking up on fuel, food, supplies. i'd suggest doing that now so you will be ready.

Iran has already done this and it's been killing us. It's also one of the main REAL reasons why we went into Iraq, because Saddam first started selling in Euros in 2000 before we captured him, switched Iraq back to dollar, then hung our 'good friend' from the 80's.

If you think about how out of whack the world is in terms of resource allocation, the US is in for a world of pain for the next century.

It's tough to justify salaries 50x more than Indian and Chinese workers are getting paid for equal if not better work

Credit markets frozen. Lobster prices plummeting in Maine because processors in Canada cannot get financing, so market for lobsters crashes. Auto Dealers closing. Auto sales tanking. GM downgrade. Iceland assets seized in UK. Icelandic Krona worthless.

I am acting upon these events as though it is the end of the road. Is it ?

    Game's over folks?????? fffck
Either the government steps in right here (and force transparency) and now and solves this immediately or it is all going to come apart within days.

    All of it.

    Be prepared.

    Roubini's Latest Post

He makes a distinction between insolvent and distressed but solvent institutions.

How do you find out which the institution is? Transparency and bringing it back on the books so you can sort it out.
