This is a paper released by the Blackwell campaign (he's a pubbie running for Oh Gov) about his opponent Rep T Strickland a dem:

This behavior by Strickland in emplaying a perv who exposed himself to children is ignored by the media, contrast that with the furor iver Foley sending ovbscene emails to an 18 year old.

If Strickland had been a republican this would be the only story in the news.

I'm sure Strickland also employed Willie Horton, Ted Bundy and the Boston Strangler. Blackwell's getting his ass kicked. Its too bad he can't lose with dignity.

Are you posting negative campaign press releases by Blackwell, patsfans13, or do you have an objective source for this information? I couldn't find your source even with a Google search.

There are more stories, sounds more and more like the old "Naked City" series... this is from a blog.. but there some evidence, not sure if it is credible. This is serious as it covers the actions of a diddling husband, by a wife who destroyed records in her care.

    http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Congresswoman_on_page_board_buried_file_1019.html

A file allegedly suppressed by Congresswoman Heather Wilson (R-NM) has been obtained by RAW STORY

In 1995, just three days into her tenure as Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, Wilson removed a routine working file alleging that her husband had engaged in inappropriate contact with a minor. The file was then transferred to the department's attorney in her own Albuquerque office, where it soon went missing.

At the time, a local investigative news team learned about the swap, but could not confirm certain details of the file. They were not able to recover the document itself.

More than ten years later, RAW STORY has uncovered and confirmed the authenticity of the police incident report believed to be contained in the missing dossier. Filed as a case of child abuse in 1993, it contends that Wilson's husband Jay Hone, an Albuquerque attorney, touched a then-16 year old boy "in a manner that was not welcome."

Charges were never filed against her husband, but Wilson's handling of the affair drew the ire of Bob Schwartz who at the time served as district attorney in Bernalillo County. He described Wilson's actions to the news team as "absolutely inappropriate," citing her "obvious conflict of interest." He also admonished Wilson for not following official procedure for the removal of official documents. "If this file is behind Secretary Wilson's desk," Schwartz said, "then she shouldn't be behind this desk anymore. She should resign."

If there wasn't so much of Blackwell's blood in the water, this would never have come up. btw 4th degree Misdemeanor charges generally cover egregious offenses like spitting on the sidewalk and possessing over-due library books.

    Blackwell's shame

If you go to this link with the Blackwell campaign announcement, at teh botom of the page they have links with PDF of the complaint and conviction. This is a matter of public record as is Strickland voting present rather than voting for a resolution condemning the crazy contention that sex between adults and children isn't necessarily a bad thing.

    http://www.kenblackwell.com/News/Read.aspx?ID=500

Hopefully the public record is objective enough for you. apparently it doesn't matter to the MSM unless it is a pubbie.

Cool nice liberial response, he probably pleads down so a perv exposing himself to kids is NBD as long as it is a dem. BTW this has nothing to do with Blackwell and his campaign and everything to do with the double standards fo the press and hypocritical libs.

patsfan13, I wasn't questionning the truth of the report, but that it comes from Strickland's opponent makes it difficult to judge. That said, based on the info in the link you provided, Strickland opposed res. 107 because it condemned "a scientific study and an organization, an organization that has done as much as any organization in this country to fight child abuse." It's at least possible that Strickland took a principled stand here, but without knowing more it's hard to reach a conclusion.

As far as the staffer goes, it's strange that we don't know his name, what his punishment was, what the circumstances were, etc. While on the surface, it seems creepy, we only have information provided by the Blackwell campaign.

A 'moral ' stand that it Ok (sometimes ) for adults to have sex with children because of a supposed study? We don't need studies to know that which is common sense.

The responses to thsi post are textbook eamples of liberial loonieness. Thanks

Do you have a link to the study or are you simply relying on the Blackwell campaign's interpretation of the study? Here's what I found:

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=9670820&dopt=Abstract

"Many lay persons and professionals believe that child sexual abuse (CSA) causes intense harm, regardless of gender, pervasively in the general population. The authors examined this belief by reviewing 59 studies based on college samples. Meta-analyses revealed that students with CSA were, on average, slightly less well adjusted than controls. However, this poorer adjustment could not be attributed to CSA because family environment (FE) was consistently confounded with CSA, FE explained considerably more adjustment variance than CSA, and CSA-adjustment relations generally became nonsignificant when studies controlled for FE. Self-reported reactions to and effects from CSA indicated that negative effects were neither pervasive nor typically intense, and that men reacted much less negatively than women."

The study did not address whether child abuse was right, but simply looked into the long term affects of abuse. Just because you and Blackwell assume that if children don't suffer severe long-term consequences from child abuse that makes child abuse okay doesn't mean the rest of us feel that way. But, I'm not surprised that people like you would reach such a simplistic conclusion expecially if it furthers your political aims.

By relying on political campaign literature, you end up looking rather silly and anti-science. This study was apparently a technical study that could help serve victims of child abuse by saying efforts should focus on short-term issues and family environment. Too bad the Republican Party and its hacks will exploit science in this sleazy manner.

I'm not going to do leg work to find the Study and the legislation in congress concerning this. I do remember the incidnet and being amazed this sort of nonsense would be put out by a so called profesional association.

I don't intend to play a game with you wher one has to prove tah sexual predation by adults on children is bad. I am not interested in your pathetic attempts to rationalize this sort of behavior.

Again the point of my thread was to pint out the double srandards of the media and libs on this issue. Your response proves my case.

A newspaper is unendorsing Blackwell and going with Strickland.. there is no mention of the topic of this thread. Primarily because Blackwell is not a nice guy and will only bog down the state.

    http://www.thecourier.com/opinion/editoral/ar_ED_101806.asp

We've been following Ken Blackwell's career for years. Our file on him is more than an inch thick. We've talked with him personally and come away impressed with his intelligence and commitment to change -- both of which are much needed in this state. But while Blackwell may still get some of our individual votes, he's lost our endorsement, for whatever it's worth. His total nastiness at the Monday debate with his opponent, Democrat Ted Strickland, has proven that he's really not the kind of man we need as our next governor. Personal attacks of dubious accuracy should have no place in a political campaign. As Strickland said, "Mr. Blackwell, you should be ashamed of yourself."

Both Blackwell and Strickland have campaigned as religious people. Blackwell is an evangelical Christian and Strickland an ordained Methodist minister. The Monday debate showed which one has a greater understanding of Christian conduct.

When will the politicians learn that most people hate this sort of negativism? For a bright man, Blackwell apparently hasn't figured out that when you're polling badly, you don't just do more of the same. The only people who react positively to negative campaigning are those who are as mean-spirited as the message. And thankfully, there aren't enough of them to make a difference at Ohio's polls.

Strickland is not much of a candidate. In Congress he's voted as a liberal most of the time, heavy on spending and taxation. He has few ideas, and some of the few he has presented have been analyzed as unworkable. He has no daring, no noticeable personality or charisma. But he's a nice man who works well with others -- and that's the main reason why Blackwell is losing this race.

With Governor Strickland, we'll likely have another Bob Taft or worse -- but with Ken Blackwell we could easily have four years of gridlock, with little or nothing getting done. It's a poor choice, and one that we'll have to let local voters make without any recommendations from us.

Maybe because the subject of the thread is media double standards and liberial hypocracy and not the Strickland Blackwell race?

any comment on why this scandal isn't getting the play of the Foley scandal? How about whether Strickland should step down for covering up for this guy?
