It was when he was on with Felger about a week into the hysteria. They are all kind of dumb asses in that the little professor was just sharing that to refute Felger's claim that it would be neigh impossible to use the information in game to begin with because of time constraints. Clayton said he had been told about two teams who were known to be doing it and he said at the time that the "tell" was those teams would make fairly dramatic second half adjustments (I figured that let teams like AZ off the hook...but there was one team who had done that consistently in 2005 and 2006 who just happened to have a master signal stealer on staff...). Said it took just seconds to burn the DVD and one team had 2 assistants waiting for it and any savvy defensive assistant could have the information ready about 4-6 minutes into the second half.

He also said that two other HC's who had done it in the past were no longer HC's but they were still in the league as assistants. Right away I began to envision how the greatest show on turf might have fallen off so precipitiously of late, or why Culpepper suddenly morphed into the antithesis of an MVPQB following a coaching change...you might recall his former HC was the SB ticket scalper who is now an assistant on the staff of a competition committee member with a new QB phenom who certainly might benefit from some instruction/assistance on reading D's at the pro level...Saban collected former HC's on his staff, along with audio tapes, but it didn't seem to do him any good because he never had a QB.

Clayton while being coy would not actually name names, but he gave plenty of intriguing hints. I bet when Bill writes the book in 2020 or so all the pieces of the puzzle and then some will come together. Unfortunately for now it's just what Clayton says he was told, and our detractors just scoff at the implications absent a smoking video camera. And there likely aren't any of them left lying around, at least for now. And they wonder why the league seems so woefully uncompetitive this season.
