Someone probably got paid a handsome sum to come up with essentially the same logo minus the helmet.
I actually kinda like it.
I like it, makes the dolphins less of a joke. I mean they're still called the dolphins but not bad. Toronto Raptors need to do the same.
damn, I thought that was the new seaworld logo
There we go...
You do realize that the dolphin is swimming through the sun, and doesn't have a mouth, right?
Pretty sure it's just a dolphin jumping in the air in sunny florida.
You gotta admit weather you like this logo or not, it's better than the old logo.
If you aren't a Dolphin fan, why is this even news or of interest?
Just another money grab by Phins ownership. First they are trying to rip of Florida taxpayers to redo their stadium, and now they want to gouge their fan base into buying new gear. What a scam.
The old one sucked, and it was still better than this one.
They should have changed their name to the Sharks like Any Given Sunday.
That's a dolphin swimming. The old dolphin was in breach position.
meh....only so much you can do with a dolphin as your logo....it is bland
With the new rules, helmets are no longer required.
it is awful. But what can you do when your team name is the Dolphins?
hmmmm offer free sushi at games
better then the old one but the real challenge would have been to make a worse one the the old one.
Just a new logo to tarnish with years of suckage.
In all seriousness, I liked the old logo. I don't like it when teams 'rebrand'. I was actually disappointed when the G-Men elected not to wear their old GIANTS helmets as part of their throwback year in 2013.
I think it looks like a G** dolphin.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
seems like the dolphins are doing exactly what another miami sports franchise did... spend a ton in FA, new logo and try to get tax payers to pay for their stadium and look how that turned out for the marlins
That logo is a euphemism.
It's much better than their old one with a helmet on the dolphin's head. That one really sucks!
The last one was doing the same thing, but, had a ridiculous helmet on.
This one is much better than their old one.
Having the name "Dolphins" is where they all went wrong.
Was this logo change approved by His Lord Don Shula?
Not saying anything about football, but dolphins are supposedly bad asses. They are the good guys who beat up sharks. The name is OK. Not great, but understandable.
Not like naming your team after a bird that does not exist (Seahawks) or not a predator (Cardinals - seeds fear us!)
Actually the logo they have now is the throwback. Not sure if you're saying the same thing.
Yeah, I was confused by that too. The Giants originally had the ny on their helmet, then changed to the whole word Giants, then reverted back to the classic plain ny initials.
Then you have the changes to the middle red stripe being bordered by white during the years they spelled out Giants on the helmet.
Ya wanna see a weird Giants helmet, check out the 1975 version, when they spelled out ny in a futuristic font. It's so short lived, barely anyone even knows of its existence in G Men history.
Then there's the whole Yale Bowl dealio during the 1973 & 1974 seasons. Giants actually played their home games in New England while Yankee Stadium was being renovated and Giants staduim was being built.
There's pictures from a Pats-Giants regular season game from 1974 from Yale Bowl.
So... yeah. There ya go. There's yer Giants overkill from a football uniforms & stadiums history nut.
btw, new Dolphins logo is generic. Shoulda stuck with the classic. I mean, anyone over 40 remembers when The Pats were perennially stuck behind them in the division. They WERE a marquee franchise after all.
Separate names with a comma.
