In reference to the arse-burn Anthony Smith took by guaranteeing victory against the Pats and then being the whipping boy on the two biggest plays of the night, Rodney said:

“It’s almost like when you go to a pizza shop and you order your pizza and you say, ‘I want extra sausage,’ ” Patriots safety Rodney Harrison [stats] said. “There’s nothing wrong with extra sausage.”

    Huh?

perhaps the extra exposure(sausage) Anthony Smith got from the whole "guarantee".

It is not for us mere mortals to question the amazingness and the awesomeness of Rodney Harrison.

He said it in response to a reporter asking if Anthony Smith's comment gave the team motivation.

It was a weird analogy but it made sense in the context in which he said it. He was saying that the team was already motivated to go out there and beat the Steelers, but the comment threw in a little bit extra motivation.

Just like a pizza is already good the way it is, but throw in some extra sausage and that makes it even better.

Well, as long as you can control your emotions and all that extra doesn't give you some heartburn a few hours later...

To this day I'm convinced that the extra adrenaline is the only reason Carolina stayed in the game in our second Super Bowl win. Never has a Super Bowl team been dominated like Carolina was for the first 25 minutes.

    It was the extra steroids.
