    Serious question.

Prior to the 2008 election virtually everywhere you looked you saw Obama signs or something about this Messiah sent from Hawaii to save us. Younger people were energized and "All in" as they say here out on the street. The big O was everywhere and pretty clear that McAin was going to lose.

Today, the dream seems dead and to have fizzled out like Joe Namath running out of Viagra and Flexall 454. Looking at it objectively, there appears to be less believers in the Flim Flam Man than before. Me thinks the economy and all the broken promises have exposed Obama as a false Prophet fake. Im not buying for second that Obama has this election in the bag and I believe the Republicans have the momentum.

Never believed in any campaign slogan... elections are more than that.

It is not surprising that a neo-con would write an article like this, but that does not make it accurate. More interesting is that it was posted on NPR, more tolerant than the right gives them credit for. The fact is, the economy improved within 6 months of Obama taking office. That is fact. His mistake was in not preparing the American people for how long it was going to really take to dig out of Bush's mess. He gave the erroneous impression that he could just drop into the White House and fix it all. Do some reading about the meetings that took place with Obama and his advisors before he took office and you will see that the enormity of the economic disaster was still being debated because it was still in progress.

Also have to remember the intent of the leaders of the Republican Party, Rush hoped that Obama would fail and congress has followed along. Many voiced their disapproval of his election and Issa vowed to hold a hearing every day on Obama and his actions. They have impeded every effort that has been made, even though the american people overwhelmingly supported it, by pulling their congressional shenanigans..

Government if broken and held hostage by the corporatists and war profiteers... and the rest of us get chump change.

the republicans have done everything they can to stop obama from succeding. They block almost all nominations, for three years the republicans have blocked almost all legislation no matter how minor using the philibuster, then claim hes ineffective. They've tried to tie up the whole legislative process by repeatedly trying to pass anti abortion legislation. In 2010 they promised jobs jobs jobs but have done nothing but try to pass bills designed to limit abortion. Legislation that use to be non partison non contraversial like bills to provide money for roads and bridges is stalled. All in the hope of making obama look like he can't get anything done. The repubs are an odious bunch that would destroy the country if they can't have it. All the while there are millions of average people like some on here that allow themselves to be manipulated like puppets, dancing to the tune of millionairs and billionairs trying to place another puppet romney in the white house.

They have also introduced something like 33 bills on stopping the affordable care act, and have gotten no where.. but it pads their resume, all fluff and no action. Perhaps it increases their right wing score cards..

Obama delivered on a very big election promise, closing of Guantanamo, however was overriden by Congresss... 4 years of opposition, with no compromise, negotiation or reconciliation.

Didn't the President have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and control of the House for his first 2 years in office? Who was the last President who had that much of an advantage? I can't remember either.......
When was the last time the Democratic controlled Senate even considered a budget or sent one to the House of Representatives? I believe it has been over three years....
