So yesterday I decided to watch the first quarter or so of the Jesters-Giants preseason game on NFL Network, just to see how that ol' hillbilly Favre would do. (Until he officially retires, it's still required by state statute to watch him whenever possible. :D )

Anyway, at some point during the game this commercial comes on with an extreme close-up of Eric Mangini talking about motivation, blah blah blah. I damn near threw the remote through the screen.

I mean, is it just me or is this clown getting more publicity since last year, when his team went 4-12??? Used to be the only guys that got this much attention were guys like Bill Parcells, who at least did something to earn it. All this little twerp ever did was give the company he works for a tremendous black eye. "I can't win on my own, so I'll tell everyone my old boss made a minor rule violation to take the heat off my butt. That'll show everyone what a good coach I am!"

There are plenty of NFL players, coaches, GMs, etc., I don't like, but there are relatively few I hate. That list includes Parcells, Bill Polian, Al Davis, T.O., etc. - in other words, guys who are real dinks and go out of their way to prove it. Mangenius has earned his way onto that list, and I would love nothing more than to see him fall flat on his face this year and wind up coaching at some Division III school in Oregon or someplace.

He's not allowed to motivate his team because they sucked last year? Is that a new rule? Damn competition committee.

Look, I'm sure you missed the point. Not that he is necessarily better at it than anyone else but he is creative. Who do you think taught him that? I know Mangini loves boxing among other things.

Yap yap yap, another Jerts fan complaining about a post by a Pats fan on a Pats fan board.

There's a reason you don't see me on Jerts boards - i.e., because I hate the Jerts.

And a Jerts fan calling ME a hater? Pot, meet kettle...

You know, you're right, I really have no business expressing my opinion about anything. I apologize, and I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again. From now on before I post anything on here I'll run it past you first to make sure it meets your high quality standards. :snob:

Try the ignore list, it works great for such idiots. There are time when someone will quote an idiot, so you end up seeing their posts anyway, but for some visitors to this forum who bring nothing of value it works great.

And yes, I hate mangidiot just as much. I get the sense that his players have little or no respect for him. How could you respect your coach when his best move is to rat on another team? Hence, bringing in proven leaders like Favre and Faneca... he cannot provide the leadership himself.

What you need to realize is that at the end of the day, they are still the Jets.

I will despise that pathetic excuse for a sports franchise until the day I die.

Hater, and wear it like a badge of honor.

I used to hate the Jets. Now I am starting to feel a little pity for them. When I'm not laughing at them.

You better hope you beat NoodleArm in week one, or no one will wver take your team seriously again.

MangIdiot's kindof like Eddie from Leave it to Beaver - the kid who would bend or break the rules himself and then waste no time tattleing on another kid for doing the same thing... especially if he thinks he can get some advantage out of it.

Whether you think Belichick bent the rules or broke the rules, the bottom line is that MangIdiot was a beneficiary of Belichick's success - possibly the very practice that Mangini blew the whistle on - and very much indebted to Belichick for giving the Ball Boy a chance on the sideline, let alone as a head coaching candidate.

Although neither side will ever say anything publicly, it does seem like Belichick and Mangini had a gentleman's agreement possibly regarding the circumstances in which Mangini would move up and on... likely a non-compete within the Division. But apparently Mangini broke whatever word he gave, and it seemed clear that Belichick was displeased to see him take inside information to a division rival. Whatever the reason BB and Mangini's relationship got a bit colder over that move alone. It seemed at that point it was clear that Mangini's word could not be trusted.

So when Mangini (who of course knows the bredth and depth of espionage and rule bending in the NFL - how it goes back 50 years with Lamar Hunt and the Kansas City Cheats, as well as the Bears and other teams) goes and creates a nightmare for the entire league in the form of Spygate, that threatened to fully undermine public trust and confidence in the game of football, potentially costing every player and organization in the league in ways both tangible and intangible, he didn't endear himself to too many Patriots fans or even other team owners.

Whether anyone else will hire Mangini in the future remains to be seen, even if he actually pulls out a winnning season this year. I have to think few organizations would want to put themselves at risk the way the Patriots found themselves, having discovered that they'd previously hired someone who, like Matt Walsh himself, can't be trusted.

But aside from all that I'm sure MangIdiot's a nice guy.

"Do you hate "Mangenius" as much as I do?"

You mean Eric The Rat? Do I hate Eric The Rat as much as you do? No.

Why? Because no one hates that bilge water drinkin' half-ass more than I do, that's why!

It's wrong to take pleasure in other's misfortune, I know. And I promise to begin a better life 30 INT's and 9 losses into the Rat scum's season this year. It won't be easy....

I don't hate Mangini. Actually think the "Mangenius" thing is funny.

He's a guy who worked hard starting in the bowels of coaching. Moved up by doing his job well. He saw his shot and he took it.

As far as the "rat" stuff goes. To me, it's meaningless. The taping practice was a violation of taping rules, but not considered a big deal by others (Herm knew four years before). Mangini/Jets dropping a dime to NFL staff at the Meadowlands was meant to bug the Patriots, but not to accuse them of a crime against humanity - as Goodell later did.

As far this the UNH reference, it will be interesting to see what happens with him if the Jets have another 4-12-like season. He's not someone with a track record with other coaches. But I could see a NFL coach who is a BB hater taking EM on as a secondary coach or defensive position coach. Or maybe he can open up an Italian restaurant in New Jersey frequented by TV mobsters.

I can't stand the man, more than anybody else in sports today! He's such a fake and a fraud. 'I love Bill Bellichick like a brother, just like I always have. He has done more for me than anybody. Oh, and I'm going to stab him in the back, first chance I get.'

ManWeesle is a waste of a human being!

That he is even worth any commercial face time shows you how skewed the media coverage is toward Jets. There was also a commercial a few years back showing a wide grinned Herm Edwards piloting an airplane after his team did nothing.

As far as it getting a coaches image out there I guess it works. Herm did manage to turn his failure in NY toward a fat contract in KC.

I still hope he's canned by week 8.

    And another thing....

Not to sound like Keith Jackson - but isn't odd that they would have him do a commercial about motivating his team when we so many of his players can't stand him and publically complain about being there?

Don't let him get to you... Just as long as the Pats don't lose to the Jets this year:D
