Senate approves resolution apologizing for slavery - CNN.com

It happens for the first time in US history. In the last hundred years, we hadn't done it but we finally did it BECAUSE OF OBAMA. This was a past issue and we had gotten a long well with African-Americans for hundred years. Why do Democrats want to do this sh!t?

Obama apologized to the world because of our 'wrong' doing. We have 'democrat' senaters and congressmen want to to do the same thing for Obama.

When did we become an 'apologized' country? It's crazy.

    Dear Michelle Obama

What else do you want your humble democrats to do for you besides apologizing?

    Jesus Christ !

Can't post links yet, but the below quotes come from an AP article posted on cbsnews.com, msnbd.com, foxnews.com and others.

Nobody in my family is apologizing for slavery, we had nothing to do with it.

I'm a Christian, I'd like an apology from the Romans for feeding my brothers and sisters to the Lions.

The Africans are the ones who should apologize, they're the ones that captured and sold the slaves in the first place.

Obama's brother in the grass hut is the one who should apologize to Princess Michelle.

How did Michelle Obama become a part of this rant anyway? She had nothing to do with the legislation.

Also, we've been a happily integrated society for 100 years? When exactly was the Civil Rights Act again?

While I am not personally offended by your remarks, I think I would tread lightly if I were you.

Also, when are the white christians going to apologize to the American Indians that they
    persecuted?

CrazyDave, NEP. NEP, CrazyDave. Nice to see you have spread the truth of the fringe right to yet another member NEP... surprise surprise, he doesn't buy it either.

So far beyond fail there is not an adjective to sufficiently promote the misused verb. Epic fail hardly scratches the surface. Epic Fu(ktard Fail is only slightly closer. I'm not sure there's any response to some of your threads that do justice to their own injustice.

I'm sure your fringie buddies on the internet are all spewing the same senseless crap, but in real life...? 1880 called. They want their ideology back.

    Ask Real World.

I, on the other hand, am German/Irish; now since grandma emigrated in 1921, I'll accept some blame for WW1 but not WW2.

    btw re: "my brothers"

I thought you were 85 years old, not 1885 years old:confused:

Would have meant a lot more if we apologized when those poor people were still alive.

    Wow!
At least Crazy Dave hit the nail on the head with that picture.
I always find it fascinating when people find the Africans at fault for slavery.
Wait, here's another one. I found an article today in which the Senate approves a resolution apologizing for slavery. Hey, that bictch in the White House is black, I'll post using her in the title (pure genius).
Now, I'll look into the future. Years from now, the Congress of the United States will be apologizing to Muslims.

Affirmitive action and all other forms of tokenism have been apologizing for years, creating an insatiable appetite for more repentance. Well that is except for the Hoyas........ I only wish I lived in a world where a person were judged by their deeds and not the triviality of past circumstance.

I don't get it. Slavery was wrong. Their reparations are that they get to live here now and not there. End.

Why is everyone appologizing ? This is why we have a defense department so no-one can take our land. The American Indians couldn't defend theirs so they lost it. That's how it works, isn't it ?

While we're on the subject. I'm pretty sure circumcision was your people's idea. I think you owe a lot of us a mea culpa.

You know at some point you have to be able to see the past as the past and move forward. All issues not just this one. At some point you have to be able to seperate yourself from parts of your past if you want to evolve in a new role. If you want to just get stuck in the same old Dogma than so be it. Why keep throwin' pennies in that well. No one of a sane mind thinks slavery was right or just, but at some put you just gotta stop acting like it did'nt happen or keep acting like your owed something. Put your big boy pants on and move on.

I have absolutely no problem with a resolution apologizing for the wrong of slavery from Congress. It's a terrible stain on the fabric of this country.

Lets not forget though, we already paid a pretty heavy price to right that wrong as well. In fact, some of here on this forum might have ancestors that were part of that effort. Perhaps even one in the 17th Maine that died during the Overland Campaign at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 5, 1864. Never know ;)

As for reparations, I'd say we're even.

What's quite offensive, is when someone calls slavery trivial.
You can debate welfare, criticize affirmative action, and even ridicule the Senate's apology.
Heck, I might even agree with you on some issues. It's when you make statements in regards to arguably the darkest period of our countries history and chalk it up to a "get over it" sentiment that I tend to put you in a class of bigots and low-lives. Re-read some of the replies, yours belongs with the best of them. I read history all the time and I'll never get complacent about slavery.

I don't believe he called slavery trivial. I believe he is saying that slavery is trivial to today's blacks because they are so far removed from it. And he's right.

Actually it was status quo for the times. It was an issue that the country fought a war over, in order to absolve it. It's called history and I am not trivializing it. The fact is you can choose to recognize history or ignore it. You can learn from it or let it consume you. I am over it. I know this is where you insert your, you don't know what it was like diatribe. Jason Whitlock summed it up best when commenting on all the fan fare over the first all black qb NFC championship, by pointing out that he wanted to live in a world that no longer made such distinctions. I'm with Jason.

    Dear Japan,
You attacked us but we're terribly sorry we fought back but what makes it really heart wrentching and something we will regret until the day we die is something that still haunts me "we won" so dear Germany and dear Japan I would personally like to say "I am so sorry we won World War II, please forgive us" Amen. Oh Jesus Christ I'm sorry.
