Profootballtalk.com reports a rumor that the Dolphins are for sale. (via USENET)

    FINS FOR SALE

Our Florida sources have tipped us off to a looming development that, in our view, makes Dolphins coach Nick Saban's disinterested interest in the
    Alabama job understandable.

The Fins, as we hear it, are in the process of being sold.

Per a source with knowledge of the transaction, advertising executive Jordan Zimmerman, a co-owner of the NHL's Florida Panthers, will become majority owner of the Dolphins.

Also involved in the new ownership will be Papa John's founder John
    Schnatter.
Since it was Huizenga who hired Saban, Saban might be interested in keeping his options open. And that's why, we believe, Saban has declined an opportunity (when pressed by Peter King of SI) to state unequivocally that he will not under any circumstances pursue the Alabama job. Saban, in our opinion, will be looking for either an extension from the new ownership, or a ticket out of town.

Zimmerman denied this today...but Heizenga has always been a cagey guy, and we all remember how he gutted and sold the marlins after their first world series.

If Wayne does sell he will be regarded as one of the most hated men in south florida.

If I had Paul Allen money, I'd buy the Dolphins, change their colors to pink and trade all their quality players for 9th round draft picks.

Maybe they will move to a City where they have real fans that actually go to the games

The Phins fans on USENET are really sensitive to that. They go catsh*t if you mention the empty seats at a game.

No. I see him settling out his contract for big bucks and heading back to college where he belongs.
