Dillon Appreciation Thread

Go Dillon. Keep that chip on your shoulder. It's good for your running.

Just like Spacecrime, I new that Corey was a Patriot when Trey Wingo said that a trade just went thru.

But Corey exceeded my wildest expectations. He carried the offense to the superbowl that year. Our pass blocking was awful, and Brady didn't have time to throw in many games. So Corey essentially kept the offense going in many different situations.

I believe we owe him that superbowl as much as we owe Rodney the one before, and Brady/Adam the 2001 superbowl.

Felger is a jerk, and we all know it. Tomase appears to be his new lacky boy. If Corey knew that we all hate the media as much as him, he would probably feel better.

The best thing I've heard in a long time was Corey telling the media that they weren't gonna be signing his checks, and that they wouldn't be helping him out after he was retired, so he didn't owe them nothin'!

Though technically not untrue, a more accurate statement would be, "but all Dillon has as a Patriot is the single greatest season of any runningback in the 40 + year history of the franchise!". ;-)

Sorry, this is a Dillon appreciation thread, and I want to be clear how much this guy should be appreciated!

I've been singing the guy's praises for awhile and seem to have been a long time lone wolf suggesting he was playing injured last year... but don't want to ruin a good thing with that chip on his shoulder!

Dillon's career pre-Patriots is irrelevant around here though that seems to be a big part of Dillon's feeling of disrespect... unfortunately that's not going to change if its a big deal to Dillon.

COREY! COREY! COREY!

Dear Corey,
You are the man! Every time one of the stupid scumbag media morons bad-mouths you or asked you yet another moronic question, just remember the fans of PATRIOT NATION are behind you 100% every inch of every hard earned yard! They are pathetic and wish they had half of the heart, character and integrity that you do. They can only wish that someday they will have the brains to maybe understand what it takes to put it all on the line for teammates and to be the best at what they do. Show 'em the ring!
(Even though I would LOVE to see you stiff arm one of 'em!)

Have a great year!
Joe

I also remember that Colts playoff game, Dillon was outstanding. When he busted that game clinching run...clearly a touchdown I was screaming, yelling and jumping. That was so awesome to know we'd just sealed the deal with the first great great running back perhaps in Pats history. Dont want to jump the gun saying hes the best ever but he definitley had the best season a running back ever had. Also I liked how when Dillon and Branch werent there for the Pitt loss it was like people would say no excuses you suck etc...then in the AFCC game Branch and Dillon were huge factors in the win.

Not trying to beat to beat the no respect thing into the ground, but I do think in Corey's case he's right. He is rarely mentioned as one of the elite backs in the history of the NFL, but the numbers don't lie. See below, that's a pretty incredible fraternity he's part of of. Hopefully he has another 2500 yards in him over two-three seasons (avg of a little over 750 a year for three years) barring any major injuries which could put him right between Eric ****erson and Tony Dorsett. Not too shabby, especially considering that the bulk of those yards were earned on some horrible Bengals teams. 12000+ yards another ring should get him into Canton.

If Corey plays a few more pretty good seasons I think he is fully capable of cracking the top ten.

He'll make it with 2 bad, (for him), seasons.

Most dominant pure runners of all time
With all the talk about C. Dillon I figured it was time to break out the "The Sacred Roll of Runners".
(not be confused with the greatest all-purpose runners of all-time: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=36168)
I took the 5 best years of each running back, ranking them against each other in 3 categories which I considered of equal value: Yards per game, yards per carry, and TDs per game (“per game” is not for each game the player played, but for each game his team played during those 5 prime seasons, thereby factoring in durability).
Key:
Tie-breaker is YPG
Name (years) YPG(rank)/ YPC (rank)/ TDsPG (rank): Aggregate rank

1.J. Brown (1958-60, 63,65) 117.5 (1)/ 5.60 (1)/ 1.08 (2): 4

I've always been curious

Why is the worst epithet we can hurl at someone in 21st century America "fat". Dillon is fat..Tomase is fat... Sullivan is fat...I'bet 70% of the hurlers here on this board qualify as fat (BTW I'm not one of them ..6"3 210). What's up with that?

I don't know, but PatsFans.com is probably not the place to try to figure it out.

Corey, you've handled every day here with dignity and honor. It's a pleasure to be your fan. Each time you touch the rock, I rise up in anticipation of the will you impose on the opposition. You run with smarts and toughness. You are as situationally aware as any RB I've ever watched. You block selflessly. You have my total respect!!

I dunno, speaking for myself, I'm fat. Not as fat as Tomase, but fat.

Point taken, I suppose. In this context it's probably the fact that Tomase, whose picture speaks for itself, goes to such pains to cover this aspect of Corey's performance in camp... that, to Tomase's trained eye, he looks "fat." Not "doesn't hit the hole hard" not "gets winded easily," not "can't cut left even now," or whatever. "Fat."

Beyond the pot calling the kettle black, it's just a bloody annoyance when you see the pics from camp. You cannot see in the pictures what he's talking about. You can't see it's untrue, either, mind you. But there's no big sloshing gut in evidence. He doesn't look like a lineman trying to run the ball.

Maybe Tomase has some pics he held back, but I don't see why, since his assertion is that Dillon is now fat.

Eh to heck with it. He saw what he saw through his own pinched, porcine eyes... I will just root for Dillon to train his butt off.

But it's okay that Tomase is really fat. Don't get me wrong here.
