    Let me get this straight:

Some home writer for the Pittburgh Post Gazette pulls some speculation out of his ass (with no source whatsoever) and now it's an "NFL Rumor", even those the Pittsburgh offensive coordinator denies it?

Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said that Vrabel certainly did get off the line quickly a number of times, but he does not think it was anything deeper than just an observant player picking up trends.
Faaaaaaccccckkkkk. Why don't teams that lose to the Pats, or any other team for that matter, go back to practice and work harder rather than look for an excuse. Keep kicking butt Vrabel, who seems to be getting better with age?

Its getting more pathetic by minute. How in the world they can say they are journalists and reporters when they pull stuff from their behind and make wild speculations without credible evidence to support it.

The article in the Post-Gazette starts out provocatively but crashes and burns by the third paragraph. This was nothing more than a ploy by the paper to increase sales by tricking its readership base into thinking it had a scoop.

The Steelers personnel interviewed danced around it but in the end it was nothing more than a very smart football player doing his job. That it was an ex-Steeler is all the more satisfying.

"According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that's the way it appeared Sunday in the Patriots' 34-13 victory against the Steelers at Gillette Stadium as the defense, in particular linebacker Mike Vrabel, seemed able to get a great jump on the ball several times. That seemed especially the case when the Steelers used silent snap counts to deal with crowd noise."

How does this make any sense? How is he supposed to be going off of the snap counts if they used silent snap counts. Doesn't the OL basically go off of the Center snapping the ball. What is there to steal?

So let me get this straight. Either Vrabel was smart enough to figure out what Roethlisberger's signal on a silent snap or Roethlisberger is dumb enough to use the same signal again from another game (which can easily be caught legally on any network broadcast since the camera is right on the line and the QB every time in a presnap). So a Pittsburgh paper wants to make that some kind of controversy?

Vrabel probably did steal the Steelers' snap count and he most likely did it 100% legally.

Sometimes there are signals like the QB lifting his leg twice or after a player goes in motion or a handsignal.

I do remember a few years back that we played a QB who had a tell when the ball was going to be snapped on a silent count. I think he smacked the center's ass or something like that. In fact, it might have been Roethlisberger.

Last year the NFL deemed that there is nothing wrong with deciphering snap counts, it's part of the game. Hell, it's even okay to use audio acquired from outside sources to do so. And regarding Kendall Simmons whining about Vrabel not being called for offsides: consider it even for the holding your linemates were doing on Vrabel throughout that game.

Knowing the Squealers, it wouldn't surprise me if it was just him remembering the same signals they were using when Vrabel was playing for them. ;)

I read this article a different way. It seems to me that the reporter is trying to put down the rumor and not rienforce it.

He uses a coach and a player to show that the team (Steelers) does not think the Pats cheated. He also lets the Steelers explain how it was not cheating. My guess, and all we are doing is guessing here, is that people in Pittsburg have been saying this since the game and he went to find the truth. By what I read, the truth he found is that there was no cheating. I think it is a pretty straight forward article with a poor title.

In Wilfork's Monday WEEI interview he talked about his sack.....he said he heard him check at the line and he had heard the same check earlier in the game so he knew what was coming and he beat it.

Sometimes it is just a better team!

Vrabel has the ability to hear different kinds of silence.

Sure, it's like in baseball a runner on second base or a coach picking up the catcher's signs and signaling them to the batter, or the hidden ball trick. It's part of the game. That Yahoo (in more ways than one) writer should take more responsibility and try to put realistic stuff out there. There are people that will believe anything...ooooh, that Pats cheated again. A**hole.

    Disable Jersey

What's the big deal here? Wilfork already talked about picking things up because Toothlessberger didn't make adjustments.

Talk about a rediculous article. It is the worst straw man argument I have ever heard.

Not to mention the fact that if the Pats did indeed steal the counts, then why is it only Vrabel that gets a great jump?
