Did I hear that the Pats were on the verge of signing Jamie Sharper?

Is he retired or does he still sumpin in the tank?

Link? (That's always nice...)

Did he play some 3-4? I think possibly?

I won't get my hopes up about him working out, but hell, we got nothing to lose.

I wanted them to sign Sharper in the offseason. Maybe he wasn't ready to return. He played in the 3-4 in Texans and was pretty good vs. the run. Might be a pretty good pick up.

Yes, he played alot of ILB while he was with the Texans. He was very productive there too.

EEI things, as in barking seals?

Someone said it in passing on EEI tonight

You know Don, with a title line like that you really should mention who said it, where they heard it etc.

This is Patsfans.com. It's not like the old days when you could just follow Hannah's ass.:p

they should bring sharper in he would be a perfect fit great at stopping the run.

The Boston Herald today mentioned a few linebackers with inside experience which started with Jamie Sharper, ex Steeler Earl Holmes,Ronald Mckinnon formerly of the Arizona Cardinals it also mentioned Roman Phifer but he's been out the league two years and his strength is coverage also he's 38 now.
So it will be interesting to see what the Pats will do here.

EEI....Are you sure they weren't talking about Jamie Moyer. All I ever hear on the station is baseball.
I had Mike Adams on last night and all the yahoo pink hat callers were talking about how the Sox folded in August.

Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla.

I think Sharper would fill in nicely. Believe it when I see it, though.

I just read Reisss aid no LB tryouts yesterday..so if they are signing someone they are quite quiet about it... The Herald mentioned Orlando Ruff who had a tryout earlier int eh year...Sharper, Ronald McKinnen, Earl Holmes..as well as Phifer... It will be interesting to see who if any they take a look at...I hope they make a move soon..so they will have a few weeks to get acquainted with things BEFORE the Pats face a big time back...

Sharper hasn't played in how many months? And many of you think he would fit in nicely? Exactly how is he going to get up to speed with 5 weeks left to the regular season? I think the Pats live, or die, with what they have.

The most logical choice would be Phifer. All he has to do is get into game shape. He's already familiar with what the Patriots do. At 38 years old it would be hard to imagine him being effective. Jr. Seau was the exception. The guy was in tremendous shape and played hard and fast as any other LB out there.

Phifer doesn't make a whole lot of sense, actually. He was always more of a coverage specialist linebacker, and not as great taking on blocks and playing in the phone booth. For a guy who runs around after tight ends and slot WRs, losing a step to age is a bigger deal.
