Read on the net yesterday how Detroit who is so lean in so many areas may be willing to give up the 2nd pick in the draft for 2 decent early picks...That may mean we could be in a position there...Although 24 and 28 are a bit low,Detroit has been known to make worse decisions (Keeping matt Millen for example) - Maybe we can offer 2 for 1 in the first, maybe even add a 6th rounder and then get the 2nd pick....Unlikely but there is hope.

Of course that would leave Calvin Johnson probably still there after the Raiders likely pick @ #1 Jamarcus Russell....hmmm the possibilities.

Seeing as how they have not made the playoffs since Lincoln was President seems to say they are not a very smart team,Especially when it comes to the draft....Barry Sanders will always be the exception of course.

I don't see anyone can justify the 24 and 28 for the 2 straight up, even the Lions. If they ever made that trade they should be kicked out the NFL. lol

Maybe if we promise Millen he can draft wide receivers with those two picks he'll do it. Otherwise, I don't see it happening.

I love threads like these. :D

Let's say somehow we get the #2. Do we stay put? I don't think so. We trade again, this time down, to the Falcons for their #10, 1st next year and a 4th this year. We then take Landry at #10 and they draft Calvin Johnson at #2. Perfect.

    #50 Jersey

Now way the Pats make that deal. A #2 pick isn't worth that type of money. And BB knows it. Kraft knows it. Pioli knows it.

Falcons just signed Horn. They are not drafting a WR now.

It won't happen because too many people use the draft equivalency numbers. For a team like the Lions though, it makes sense, especially if it is sweetened a little bit. Good players for the price are available in bottom third of the first round. I believe Beoli called it the "sweet spot". What happens though is people get locked in to getting equal value. What the Lions need are players....multiple and not at budget busting prices for rookies at the top of the draft.

I don't think I would want the Pats to do the deal except to trade it again.

Joe Horn isn't what he used to be and if they have a chance to draft local boy Johnson, they're drafting local boy Johnson.

Calvin Johnson wouldn't suck if Jeff George was his QB.

Let's not get carried away here. I get the feeling that some people here think Calvin Johnson walks on water.

I'm not proclaiming Johnson to be the messiah, but he's the best WR prospect to come through the draft in a long time. You must admit.

He is this years Reggie Bush...And I bet he has a better year than Bush did as a rookie although Bush was impressive in several games last year and I am betting Bush is in Hawaii next year...Maybe not the SB but in Hawaii-Of course he will be there with Calvin.

He does have everything you look for, especially in terms of measureables but that that doesn't mean he wouldn't be hurt by having a runningback throw him the ball.

But just because Johnson wouldn't suck doesn't mean Vick wouldn't. Vick has one of the best TE in the game to throw to but he still continues to stink.

I know. But you said they would still be blaming Johnson for Vick's performance. What I'm saying is that even with Vick, Johnson would outperform his QB, diverting the blame to another hapless soul. Johnson's QB in college was basically a RB too. In fact, Reggie Ball is so bad that they're moving him to WR.

Why are we talking about this? Ohh yeah we're convincing Matt Millen to take our two number ones for the second overall pick which we're then trading to the Falcons for their #10 and a future draft pick. :D :D

    #24, #28 and Marquise Hill. ;)

Then trade back into the early teens and get Landry/Willis and a 2nd.

    Cousins,
David Haugh from the Chicago Tribune denies this "Block Buster" trade rumor. Would the Bears consider it? Would The Godfather and SP? Lets consider this rumor and remember it's only a stupid rumor, but there is another rumor in Chicago on their site saying the Lions are offereing two first for Briggs and a second.

The Pats rumor (purely just that) is a win for both teams, it doesn't involve Matt Millen either and saves the Bears FO some serious face.

Lance Briggs and Bernard Berrian and the Bears #2 choice in this years draft (Jets) for the NE Pats two #1's and FS Eugene Wilson (the Bears need a safety and at least Wilson is a decent starter for the PATS before a hammy last year, He is young and has a couple of SB rings, he is an U of Illinois allumni and is recovered to play in 2007) plus Pats former 2nd round draft pick, DE Marquis Hill (with the flexibility of A. Thomas the Pats just signed, he would have limited playing time in 2007). He would be a good young back up for the Bears with injuries in their "D" line. Obviously Bill B did see something in this kid at 6' 6'' and 300lbs as he made the Pats every year.

What does this accomplish, class?.........The Pats get a WR they still need (Stallworth?...nyet!). They would be set at LB (COULD HE PLAY MLB?) as the NE LB's have some years on them and now, get younger.

How 'bout Da Bears? They get rid of a pain in the a** problem who will be disruptive without a doubt (see D. Branch and what it did to the Pats). This saves the Bears FO face. The Bears get not one, but two #1's for a total of three. The Bears get a safety they desperately need that happens to be from U. of Illinois. He could start. They get a backup DL who could blossom under Lovie.

The CAP deal works because of the trades as they should even out. It's a WIN for everyone. It gets the PATS two players they can use now and makes them better. It gives the Bears flexibility with (3) three number one choices in this years draft, plus two reasonable players (at least Wilson has a decent game history) and yes, there a fleet of WR in this years draft to replace Bernard. Plus Lance Briggs is causing a rift with Urlacher and wants to get paid more than #54. What happen when #54 gets ready for a new deal?

The Pats still have some CAP room to offer Briggs a better deal.

Stepping back from this deal, Briggs is a superb player, but burnt his bridges and croaked management.

Bernard Berrian is a good upcoming WR, but surely not an elite one right now and on the smallish side. He did start some though. Perhaps the Pats see him as a field stretcher? I think he could be!

Wilson of NE has started since his rookie year and has been dinged up the last two seasons but not of the carreer incapacitating type. He's got a couple of rings and he went to school locally. He is still young and a Bears need.

Hill was never going to get into the DE rotation with Seymour, Warren, Green and now Thomas upon occasion, but he had enough talent to have the Pats draft him in the second round and is 6' 6" and 300lbs. Certainly a good young Chicago backup especially with recent injuries.

I think the Pats are giving up way too much for a malcontent, albeit a superb player, and especially two #1's?

This HOT rumor makes so much sense it scares me.

This is an actual quote from The Chicago Tribunes David A. Haugh translated for typos:
"Bears haven't received a single call and no way Pioli gives up 2 No. 1s to invest 20 million in ANOTHER outside linebacker"

Who said he can't play MLB?
