It must be a reminder to the Sky-is-falling Pats fans that other team's also have problems. The Broncos have lost both Elvis Dumerville permanently, and Von Miller for 1/4 of the season. That was their entire pass rush last season.

Here, we lost Hernandez permanently, and hypothetically Gronkoski for possibly a game. Poor, poor Pats, they will have to resort to using any one of three former starting TEs as their first reserve TE. Woe is us...

I'm sure we'll find out soon. A guess would be a violation of either the substance abuse policy or PED policy.

Yeah, it's all about that. The Patriots have a (now former) key player allegedly pumping bullets into people on multiple occasons, and gutted their wide receiving corps, but it's the fault of the media that the news is about the Patriots' potential struggles more than the potential struggles of a team that added Wes Welker to its arsenal.

I think it is a very valid point that he made. If you want to sensationalize the way you put it then sure you can make it seem worse.

The Bronco's alledgedly have a key player pumping Extacy (Edit apparently it was Meth) and any other ravers drug into his system and other than him have gutted their pass rush.

Look no one will deny that the Pats potentially have had one of the toughest offseasons in NFL history but when you get past some of the sensational aspects of the offseason they really aren't in all that different of a boat than most of their compition. Every team loses stars, every team is relying on rookies in some way or another, and every team has a few players that are injury prone that they are relying on. Really if you step back from the fact that we lost a star from a murder and realize it doesnt matter how ugly you lost the player its still just one guy to replace on the roster.

Yes we gutted our WR corp but other than Welker this was absolutely needed. Yes we lose Ahern but look around the league most teams have lost a star or two. Dummerville from the broncos, Ray and Reed from the Ravens, Revis from the Jets, on and on and on.

Dont buy the sensational hype this team is fine. A little young at WR but otherwise fine.

It didn't even approach the general area of being a "very valid point". It was about as silly a non-valid point as it gets, even at this time of the year.

Obviously everyteam does not have players like that but every team does deal with losing players of that skill level. He wound up playing down the stretch but last year when Suggs tore his achilles playing hoops we all thought the Ravens were done. The Ahern thing when you strip the murder title off it really isnt something that teams are not used to dealing with Star players leave your team or get hurt and you have to move on from it every other team is going through it too just not due to a murder.

NFL players are, largely, people from financially troubled areas who would usually have high crime numbers. As a group, however, they are arrested at about the same rate as the 'average' american.

In other words, the arrest rate for NFL players is lower than should be expected. All the hand-wringing is about PR, rather than about an actual issue.

You mean to tell me that other teams dont have their own problems to worry about which is all the OP was saying? Seems valid to me but if you say Murder enough times or even just think about one murder enough the problems of the rest of the NFL become trivial. But outside of losing one player on the 53 albeit a really good player the murder is no longer a Patriot problem it is Aherns and his cohorts problem. The team does not go on trial despite what the media might want. Like Denver needing to replace Dummerviller we need to replace Ahern (and some PR work for Stacey James).
