between barry burning 9100 gallons of jet fuel on earth day, kennedy fighting wind turbines, and feinstein fighting solar farms, it only lead me to one question......

More mass transit. Let's see if they get it through.

You can't fault Obama for flying. You probably can fault Kennedy, though.

I think Barry's doing fine. He's president, and he has a lot on his plate. There are some things more important than green, such as running the nation. Kennedy is wrong here, and it's obvious, but it's interesting that Obama used Earth Day to announce regulations that may increase the likeliness of the Cape Wind project.

SouthCoastToday.com: New federal regulations please Cape Wind proponents, opponents

Feinstein is a Democrat that Republicans should like a lot. She's just a little to the left of Joe Lieberman and is very much a corporate and business-friendly Democrat, which means the environment is not a high priority for her.

They're hypocrites/liars. They don't really care about this crap, it's all about power just like the TARP money giving them the power to control business. "Green" to Democrats is just a way to try to control our lives.

He could have made the same speech from the White House. You either give a crap or you don't and he wants to talk the talk but not walk the walk. That 9,000 gallons is what I will drive in about 20 years based on current fuel economy.

If there is anything more to it than the superficial explanations, it probably has to do with shifting power away from oil wealth.

You can't really argue with the value of mass transit, either. Or bicycles, even.

What do you think the odds are that Americans will flood to mass transit or start riding bicycles ? I'd say about 2% and 0% respectively.

If you build it .... People use bike lanes and MUPs, there's no question about it.

I'd take mass transit to work if I could. There are no routes for me, though.
I do ride my bike in during the summer when I can. It's a 26 mile round trip and great exercise. That's 1 anecdotal American.

You're an exception. Some would - clearly - I shouldn't have said 0% - but a tiny, tiny number of Americans would ride 26 miles - heck, most COULDN'T ride 26 miles even if they wanted to.

There was an article in the Globe today about something like 80 million in US funds for bike trails unspent here in MA. I guess Weston is doing the NIMBY thing again. Anyway they pointed towards a long bike trail in Minnesota that's just beginning to develop serious traffic jams. It averages 1 rider every 16 seconds.

btw I'm a voter who's voted for Kennedy three times now. I'm getting pretty sick of his resistance to Cape Wind. Sure the sound is pretty and will be a bit less pretty with the turbines; but choices have to be made and those choices have to involve the greatest good for the most people. Besides, my brother in law owns a houseboat and he really ain't much of a navigator;) Its the giant landmarks, like the waste treatment plant on Nut Island, or the Schiuate windmill that keep him, my sister and both their kids from putting in a guest appearance on Lost as smoke monster victims 7-10.
