this is why you hang onto surplus pitching...we always seem to need it.
 
every team needs pitching. you can never have to much.
 
looks like Lester, Lackey, Buch, Doubront, and Peavy. I would like to see what Brandon workman could do as a starter, but he was real good out of the pen last year.

Are either of those guys from the dodgers trade likely to be in the frame?
Not sure we can rely on Buch's health or Peavy's age.

de la Rosa and Webster, right?

I'd think Webster's first up then de la Rosa, based on their innings last year.

Will be interesting to see if any other prospects can show something in spring training -- Ranaudo, Owens, Barnes. I'd guess Ranaudo could see time in the bigs this year given his age and minor league innings, but I think Barnes and Owens are both just 21 and Owens, especially, still doesn't have many innings under his belt in the minors.
