OK, I think this is the crux of the matter. Their "generous offer" to have him pin the blame on the little guy DID require an admission of guilt.
For Brady to point his finger at the equipment guys would be to say "yes this trumped-up conspiracy really happened, yes there was a scheme to deflate footballs, yes it helped us win, yes the Patriots are a cheating organization that doesn't earn its success."
They didn't just want him to throw two men under the bus, they wanted him to throw the PATRIOTS under the bus. Which is no offer at all.
**** you. Speak for yourself.
Yep- I remember that as well and seems to jive w/ what folks believe Dee Smith is alluding to.As I recall, there were reports/rumors/whatever last summer of the settlement that Curran reported: Brady offered to take one game for not fully cooperating with the investigation in return for no admission of guilt by himself or anyone in the Pats organization.
I know that doesn't/didn't sit well with many on this Board, but it was, as someone else said, a "generous" offer, given his innocence.
Clearly, the Owners wanted blood, in the form of an admission of guilt by someone in the Patriots organization. Now, it's gone from that to a test of wills over the CBA.
Sickening.
I'm glad that Brady made that generous offer and I'm glad Goodell's blind arrogance refused it. At every turn through this entire ordeal Brady has increasingly looked like the better man while Goodell has increasingly looked like the maniacal power abusive idiot.
I am loving Olsen's (or whoever's) newly invigorated PR campaign.
This thing is going to see an en banc hearing.
Oh but Stephen A Smith thinks Tom is being selfish....
I bet his buddy Troy Vincent told him to say that.
I just heard a clip of him spewing his BS. What an idiot DB.
It's very likely Stephen A. Smith does not know what "selfish" means. Its awful. Saying Brady is selfish is unbelievable to me. Might be one of the worst things he has said.
Well, Screamin' A came back to form today. It was a short trip to sanity for him.Came home about 20 minutes ago and my roommate had ESPN on and they were talking about the concussion scandal. Stephen Asshat of all people went on a rant about how the NFL can't be trusted and if they were to lie about something this serious why wouldn't they lie in something like Deflategate. I was really surprised to hear it but the tide has definitely started to turn over the past couple months
Its awful. Saying Brady is selfish is unbelievable to me. Might be one of the worst things he has said.
**** roger!!! cant believe kraft supports this douchebag
He went on to say that Brady is selfish because he (Smith) is sick and tired of this story. Um....Brady is selfish for defending himself and - in this case, now - the NFL players from a tyrannical commissioner, because Smith is tired of the story?
Hahahahahahahahaha
Here we go. I've got a plan. Anyone in?

Well he is an act, don't take what he says too seriously. First take isn't 100% real.Yep. His logic is ridiculous. Why isn't Goodell selfish? Why can't he stop?
I swear 345 Park Ave. put him up to saying this. Smith is a loudmouth idiot but I think he has a couple of rational noodles floating around in his head and not just beef jerky.
Watch the curran video, you can't expect smith just to give out that info in an interview when there is so much up in the air.
