The cliches were flying last night as usual with the "Brady really fired up his team" comments. Does anyone really think it is beneficial to have your QB hollering at the O line and backs in the middle of the game? Anyone remember seeing Montana, Favre, Manning or Brees doing this as often as Brady does in recent games. (Manning usually waits and throws his teammates under the bus post-game).

Not saying a QB shouldn't yell on occasion but to me the prototype QB will always be a cool-headed dude. And Tommy, when he has a horrible game like in Cleveland, is noticeably more subdued. How can you yell when you are just sucking out the game? I prefer an even keel from my million dollar leader. There was an AFC scout who did some anonymous commentary for one of the papers in the playoffs, and I recall his interesting remark that Brady's temper is a surprising weakness in the otherwise best set of QB skills in the league.

I probably speak for everyone on this board when I say that without even hearing what Brady had to say in that crazy sideline rant, I was ready to go suit up and try to block Polamalu myself.

Incredible. Tom should have quit on this fan base while he was ahead... 'Cause now he's dammed if he do and slammed if he don't...

Tom Brady is not Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. He never has been and never will be. And yes, I've seen Brett Favre and Peyton Manning both yell at their receivers while still on the field..

There is a time to be "cool-headed" and then there is a time to take players to task. Tom is the undisputed leader of this team. Period. And, until last night, it looked like he'd lost the fire in his belly. Last night proved that it wasn't gone and that it just might be stoked higher than it ever has been. I much prefer what I saw last night from Brady than the "ho-hum" laissaz faire attitude of a Drew Bledsoe..

    No Jersey Selected

I don't see passion for the game as a weakness. Quite the opposite. He's a tough competitor and I believe the 'rant' was Brady telling his offense that they could not afford any mistakes if they were to beat this team. He wasn't yelling at them, he was laying down a marker for the level of play required to win. I thought it was brilliant and I find myself also wondering for which team you were rooting.

This has got to be a joke. Someone needs to be hollering at you for this post.

Also, why does everyone equate "Yelling" with "In trouble" ?

Brady was probably being supportive. He was probably saying stuff like "THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. YOU GOT THIS. BE AGGRESSIVE."

Brady was telling the Offense that if they didn't get their acts together out there, and stop with all these dropped passes, run the correct routes, and stay focus, that he was going to slap all of them up side there heads once they got into the locker room at half time.

Looks like that helped, because they were pretty focused after that.

If its one thing that infuriates me its when Brady throws a tantrum targeted at a receiver. I liken it to that douchebag Phillip Rivers.

But that rant last night wasn't like that. It seemed like that field became the set of 300 there for a moment. Sure he was frustrated, but it was used as a tool to motivate, not just an aimless tantrum.

I echo the sentiment about wanting to get out there and block myself.

As inspiring as it was to watch him lead thusly last night, Brady can't hold a candle to Bobby Layne in this department!

Here's the thing, everyone responds to different things in different ways. Montana's team might not have responded well to being yelled at. Maybe they needed cookies and a tummy rub. I don't know, and I don't care.
As the results prove, Tom Brady knows how to fire up HIS team in the way that makes them perform. That is all that matters.

everyone is different. As long it stays on the field and doesnt come out openly in the press etc like favre etc do iam fine with it. Plus there are lots of new and young players on the team who need to be schooled sometimes.

    Disable Jersey

Brady's gotten to 100 wins faster than any other QB in the history of the NFL. Last night, his offensive linemen were ready to rip off the heads of the Steelers defenders for giving Brady a little extra after one running play.

Seems as if what Brady is doing is working for him.

Um, oh please. These guys know Brady would never throw anyone under a bus to the press. They know he'll take responsibility for poor play. In the heat of the game, if he has to do a little sideline yelling to get everyone to get their heads out of their asses, then so what? It worked, didn't it?

That was one of the highlights of the game for me.

I guess you haven't seen the video of Manning & Saturday's pissing match on the sideline, then. Peyton doesn't rally the troops, he uses them as a human shield against criticism of his play. They are but his scapegoats.

I don't see how any Patriots fan couldn't be inspired by a) Brady's sideline pep talk b) the way the team responded to said pep talk.
